A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA
CREATING AN ADMINISTRATIVE CODE TO IMPLEMENT A
CREDIT/DEBIT CARD SURCHARGE (CONVENIENCE FEE);
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Florida Statute 215.322 was created to permit local governments to impose
surcharge on credit/debit card transactions to pay the service fee changes imposed when a perso
uses a credit card, change card, or debit card for the payment of taxes, fees, fines, penalties
court-ordered payments, court costs or other statutorily prescribed revenues; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills has determined that the use o
credit/debit card is convenient to the public and a convenience fee added to the amount charge
helps reduce the cost to the government for using the card; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills fmds it necessary and desirable to adop
an Administrative Code setting forth the requirements, procedures and standards under which
convenience fee will be imposed for credit/debit card use.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills
Florida, Pasco County,that:
1. A surcharge of two dollars ($2.00) on credit/debit card transactions to pay the service fe
charges imposed when a person uses a credit card, charge card, and debit card fo
payment of utility services charges for water, sewer, and sanitation.
2. The Resolution shall take effect immediately, with implementation upon installation an
activation of applicable software programs to be able to use the credit card, chang
card, or debit card.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS
FLORIDA, ON THIS 14th DAY OF MAY, 2012.
