HomeMy WebLinkAbout664-13 Local Option Gas Tax RESOLUTION NO. 664-13 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING EXTENSION OF THE LOCAL OPTION GAS TAX AN CALLING ON THE PASCO COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS T OPPOSE UTILIZATION -OF THE DEFAULT STATUTORY METHOD O DISTRIBUTION OF THE REVENUE TO THE MUNICALITIES OF PASCO COUNTY. WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills supports extending the Local Option Gas Tax; and WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills opposes the County's decision to utilize the statutory method of distribution in lieu of negotiating an inter-local agreement; and WHEREAS,the City of Zephyrhills and its citizens rely on revenues generated by the Local Option Gas tax as currently distributed,pursuant to an inter-local agreement, to provide fo the necessary roadway maintenance within the City; and WHEREAS, the default statutory method of distribution as outlined in F.S. 336.025 will cause irreparable harm to the citizens of the City of Zephyrhills. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills as follows: Section 1. The City of Zephyrhills hereby advises the Pasco County Board of Count Commissioners that it opposes utilization by the County of the statutory default method of distribution of the Local Option Gas Tax revenue. Section 2. The City of Zephyrhills advises the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners that it supports the Local Option Gas Tax, so long as the proceeds are distribute fairly and equitably to the participating municipalities, as provided for in the existing inter-local agreement. Section 3. The City Clerk shall provide executed copies of this resolution to the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners,the County Administrator, each member of the Pasco County Commission, as well as each City/Town Clerk in Pasco County for the purpose o distributing copies to members of their respective governing bodies.
