A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA,
SUPPORTING EXTENSION OF THE INTER-LOCAL AGREEMENT
UTILIZING THE NEGOTIATED ROAD MILES METHOD OF
CALCULATION AND CALLING UPON THE PASCO COUNTY BOARD
OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO OPPOSE UTILIZATION OF THE
DEFAULT STATUTORY METHOD.
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills requests extension of the negotiated
inter-local agreement utilizing the road miles method of calculation of Local Option Gas Tax
revenues; and
WHEREAS,the City of Zephyrhills, and those Pasco County citizens residing within the city
limits of the City rely on revenues generated by the Local Option Gas Tax as currently
distributed, pursuant to a negotiated inter-local agreement, to provide for the necessary roadway
maintenance within the City;
WHEREAS,permitting the negotiated inter-local agreement to expire will cause irreparable
harm to both citizens of the City of Zephyrhills, and Pasco County; and
WHEREAS,the City of Zephyrhills requires additional time to prepare for the drastic budget
shortfall that will occur with the transition from the current calculation method to the default
statutory method.
NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED,by the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills, as
follows:

Section 1. The City of Zephyrhills hereby advises the Pasco County Board of County
Commissioners that it opposes utilization by the County of the statutory default method of
distribution of Local Option Gas Tax revenue.
Section 2. The City of Zephyrhills advises the Pasco County Board of County
Commissioners that it supports the Local Option Gas Tax, so long as the proceeds are distributed
fairly and equitable, as provided for in the existing inter-local agreement.
Section 3. The City of Zephyrhills requests that the Pasco County Board of County
Commissioners extend the current inter-local agreement be extended to further permit the
effected municipalities additional time to prepare for budget shortages.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall provide executed copies of this Resolution to the Pasco
County Board of County Commissioners,the County Administrator, each member of the County
Commission.
Section 5 ThisResolution shall take effect immediately upon approval.
