A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA
ELIMINATING THE CREDIT/DEBIT CARD SURCHARGE
(CONVENIENCE FEE); PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Florida Statute 215.322 was created to permit local governments to impose
surcharge on credit/debit card transactions to pay the service fee changes imposed when a perso
uses a credit card, change card, or debit card for.the payment of taxes, fees, fines, penaltie ,
court-ordered payments, court costs or other statutorily prescribed revenues; and
WHEREAS, on May 14, 2012 the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills determined that th
use of credit/debit card was convenient to the public and a convenience fee of$2.00 was adde
to the amount charged to help reduce the cost to the government for using the card; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills now finds it necessary and desirable t
eliminated the surcharge for the use of credit card, charge card, and debit card when payin
utility service charges for water, sewer, and sanitation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Zephyrhill ,
Florida, Pasco County, that:
1. No surcharge shall be charged a person who uses a credit card, charge card, and deb t
card for payment of utility services charges for water, sewer, and sanitation.
2. The Resolution shall take effect immediately.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILL ,
FLORIDA, ON_THIS 12'DAY OF JANUARY, 2015.
