A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING AN AIRSPACE
CERTIFICATE OF AUTHORIZATION (COA) OVER THE GREEN
SWAMP AND IN THE VICINITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS MUNICIPAL
AIRPORT FOR UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEM VEHICLE
EDUCATION, RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, TESTING AND
EVALUATION
WHEREAS, the City Council of Zephyrhills, Florida, supports creation of a Special Use
Airspace Certificate of Authorization (COA) for the purpose of Education, and Research,
Development, Testing, and Evaluation(RDTE); and
WHEREAS,designated airspace under a COA is an economic driver that provides aerospace
companies incentives to build and test equipment for commercial purposes; and
WHEREAS, airspace designed to accommodate small to medium sized UAV's would capture
large segment of the sUAS market creating high-tech economic influx into southeastern Pasco
County and the Zephyrhills Municipal Airport; and
WHEREAS,the proposed COA is a 5 x 10 mile box up to 1,500 feet, located five miles from th
Zephyrhills Municipal Airport with no interference with Tampa or Orlando airspace.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA, in regular session duly assembled this 9th day of March 2015,that
the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills, Florida does support application for a Special Use
Airspace Certificate of Authorization(COA)to provide Education, and Research, Development,
Testing and Evaluation opportunities for small unmanned aerial system vehicles.
DONE AND RESOLVED this 23`'day of March 2015.
