HomeMy WebLinkAbout931-05 Amend Economic Development Incentives ORDINANCE NO.: 931-05 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ZEPHYHRILLS, FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 734 REGARDING THE COMPOSITION OF THE ZEPHYRHILLS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR MERGER OF THE COMMITTEE WITH THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT- COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREAS, the City of Zephyrhills, Florida previously adopted Ordinance No. 734 in order t rovide a mechanism for attracting quality economic development in the corporate boundaries o t e City of Zephyrhills; and EREAS, Section III of Ordinance No. 734 provides for creation of a City Economi evelopment Committee to review and implement the provisions and goals of the Ordinance nd - f REAS, the Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce also has an' economic developmen ommittee which reviews and seeks to attract industrial development to the City of Zephyrhills d EREAS, it has been proposed to merge the existing City Economic Development Committe ith representatives recommended by the Chamber of Commerce as well as one appointment b t e Airport Authority in order to expand the expertise and representation of committe embership for the benefit of the City of Zephyrhills. OW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills lorida, as follows: SECTION 1. Section III of Ordinance No.1 734 is hereby amended as follows: The Zephyrhills Economic Development Committee shall consist of eleven (1 1) i dividuals. Individuals representing the following business segments: banking (1); accountin ( ); development (1); manufacturing (1); (3) citizens not actively employed in the previous! i entified business segments shall be nominated by the majority of the City Council; three (3 embers shall be nominated by the Zephyrhills Chamber of Commerce and one (1) membe s all be nominated by the Airport Authority. Terms of the individuals will be for three (3) year eginning on the date of their appointment. The Zephyrhills Economic Developmen ommittee's members will be approved by the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills. ECTION 2. Severability. I is declared to be the intent of the City Council o f the City of Zephyrhills, Florida that if an s ction, subsection, sentence, clause, or provision of this ordinance shall be declared invalid, the r mainder of the ordinance shall be construed as riot having contained said section, subsection, s ntence, clause, or provision, and shall not be affected by such holding. ECTION 3.
