AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO AND REGULATING THE I �1'
KEEPING, OWNING, AND RUNNING AT LARGE OF DOGS
_ OR BITCHES, PRESCRIBING A FORM OF LICENSE, AND
A LICENSE FEE FOR THE KEEPING OF SUCH ANIMALS ;
REQUIRING THAT SUCH ANIMALS BE INOCULATED AGAINST
RABIES AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR, AND AS A PREREQUISITE
TO THE ISSUANCE OF A LICENSE PROVIDING FOR THE
ThPOUNDiviENT OF UNLICENSED DOGS OR BITCHES, AND
FOR SUCH ANIMALS WHETHER LICENSED OR NOT, RUNNING
AT LARGE IN VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE; REPEALING
ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION
OF THE TERMS OR PROVISIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ZEPHYRHILLS , FLORIDA, as follows:
Section 1. That it shall be unlawful for any person,
party, firm or corporation to keep, own, or maintain within the !
city limits of Zephyrhills, Florida, any dog or bitch without
having procured a license from the City Clerk of the City of
Zephyrhills, Florida, in the manner and form as hereinafter pre-
cribed. / .
} F ` . Section 2. The Clerk of the City of Zephyrhills , Florida,
is hereby authorized and directed to issue a license to any owner
of any dog or bitch within the City of Zephyrhills, Florida, inI
the following form:
DOG LICENSE
THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS , FLORIDA
In consideration of the sum of
hereby authorizes and allows
to own and keep the following described animal
within the corporate limits of the City of
Zephyrhills, Florida, to-wit :

Provided, however, that said animal will not be

Section 3. The City Clerk shall also give the
licensee an appropriate dog tag to' be attachedto the collar
of said animal. ,No licenser.�sball: be issued until and unless
evidence has been pro uced before the City Clerk of the pity
of Zephyrhills, Florida , to show that.'said dog ' or bitch has
been inoculated against rabies within a period of one year.
The certificate of any person licensed to practice veterinary
medicine in the State of Florida, or that of, any person duly '
authorized by the City Council , of the City of Zephyrhills,
Florida, to administer anti-rabic inoculation, may be accepted
as evidence of inoculation. .All licenses issued by the' City
Clerk of Zephyrhills , .Florida,,, shall expire one years after tQ

• Bec "ion 4. It shall be unlawful for any dog or bitch
not licensed as hereinabove provided for, to run at large withiI,
the corporate' limits of the City of Zephyrhills , Florida, and my
such unlicensed dog or 'biteh shall be impounded in. the City pound
by the police officers of the City of Zephyrhills, Florida, and
unless said animal is redeemed by its owner within ` I ;
caas after its impoundment , by procuring a license for said ani-
mal and paying an additional penalty 'of �- , the said
animal shall, after the expiration of said o2 -' d-ate,
be
killed and its carcass buried by the City Marshal of the City
of Zephyrhills , Florida, . who shall receive a fee of
for each animal so killed and buried, out of. the general funds
of the City of Zephyrhills , Florida.
Section 5. It shall be unlawful for any dog or bitch
licensed under this Ordinance to promiscuously roam and run at
large, and frequent the streets of the City of Zephyrh-ills ,
Florida, without being accompanied by its owner or some com-
petent person having control and management of said animal.
en any such animal is found violating the terms of this
ordinance, it shall be impounded by the City Marshal, or other
. police officer of the City of Zephyrhills , Florida, in the city
pound, and the owner of said dog shall be promptly notified by
the police officer of the City of Zephyrhills , Florida. After
such notice the said dog or animal niyy be released upon payment '
of a fee of , within days after the receipt of said notice. In the event said animal is not redeemed within
days after the giving of such notice, the City Marshal
of the City of Zephyrhills , .Florida,, shallAkill said animal in
the manner as hereinabove provided for the killing of unlicensed
dogs or bitches, and shall receive : the same fee or compensation
therefor.
REPEALING CLAUSE: All ordinances or .parts of ordinances
of the City of Zephyrhills , Florida, in conflict herewith be,and
the same are hereby repealed.
SAVING CLAUSE: If any section, sub-section, sentence,
clause, phrase, or word of this ordinance is, for any reason, held
or declared to be unconstitutional, inoperative or void, such
holding or invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of
this Ordinance; and it shall be construed to have been the legis-

lative intent to pass this Ordinance without such constitutional,
inoperative or invalid parts therein; amd tje remainder of this
ordinance, after the exclusion of such part or parts, shall be ,
deemed and held to be valid as if such excluded parts had not
been included herein; or, if this ordinance or any provision
thereof shall be held inapplicable to any person, groups of .per-

sons, property, kind of property, circumstance, or act of cIrouxn-
stance, such holding shall not affect the applicability thereof
to any other person, property or circumstance.
The foregoing Ordinance No. . was read and passed
