l ORDINANCE RE LgTING TO E ECT O NS IN THE CITY OF

ZEPHYRHI LLS, FLORIDA
FOR ALL MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
BE T ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA:
That no person shall be allowed to vote in any municipal election
her after held in the City of Zephyrhills, Florida, unless during the
per od subsequent to the enactment of this ordinance, and prior to
sal election such person shall have registered in the registration
boo s provided by this ordinance, which said registration shall be
suf i cient to entitle him to vote in any such election for which he
is therewise qualified, and no other registration shall be necessary.

Each elector shall register upon a registration form, to be
provided by ,said City, and which said form shall be substantially as
fol ows:
I do solemnly swear ( or affirm) that I will protect and defend
the Constitution of the United States of America and the State of Florida;
that I am twenty-one years of age; that I have been a resident of tl e
State of Florida for twelve months arid the City of Zephyrhills, Florida
for six months last past; that I' am qualified to vote under the Constitu-
tion and laws of the State of Florida, and under the City Charter and
Mu icipal Ordinances of the City of Zephyrhills, Florida. -

Each elector in signing the said registration form shall take
t e oath appearing thereon which shall be administered by the City
C erk as the Registration officer of said City.

The said City Clerk shall cause a sufficient number of regis-
t ation forms to be printed, and the same shall be arranged alpha etic-
a ly and bound in loose-leaf binder's which shall be the official
registration books of said City, and the type of binders shall su -
s antially consist of flexible record binders bound with metal, o
a suitable substitute for metal, with built-in automatic shifts aid a
b lit-in lock of substantial quality. Such forms and binders shall
b furnished by the City of Zephyrhlills, Florida, and paid for ou of
t _e funds of said City.

The registration books shall, at all times be kept in the off ce
o .the City Clerk, subject to -examination 'by the public, and open for
r gistration as provided by the City Charter and Municipal Ordina ces
o the City of Zephyrhills, Florida. .

The City Council of the City- of Zephyrhills, Florida, may au hor-
i. e the City Clerk, as Registration officer. for said City to make
s ch inquiry and investigation as they deem necessary and proper o
d termine the names of all registered electors who have moved without
t e corporate limits of ' said City, or died since registering, suc�

inquiry and investigation shall be subject to the direct instruct ons
o said City Council, and the cost of same shall be defrayed by t o
said City.

The said City Clerk, as Registration officer of said City, upon
Bing notified of the death of any' regi stered elector, or that any
egistered elector has moved without the corporate limits of said City,
hall enter upon the registration books, at the name of such elector ,
'Moved" or "Dead" as the case may be, and date and sign such notation.

REPEALING CLAUSE: All ordinances or parts of ordinances of the
ity of Zephyrhills, Florida, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SAVING CLAUSE: If any portion whatever of this ordinance is for
a y reason held or declared to be unconstitutional, inoperative o1
v id, by a Court of competent jurisdiction; such holding of invalidity
s all not affect the remaining portions of this Ordinance; and it
s all be construed to have been th legislative intent to pass th' s
o dinance without such unconstitut Ional, inoperative or invalid pits
t erein; and the remainder of this ordinance, after the exclusion of
s ch part or parts, shall be deemed and held to be valid as if su h
excluded portions had not been included herein; or:9 if this ordin Lnce
or any provision thereof shall be held inapplicable to any person
g oups of persons, property, kind If property, circumstance or act
of circumstances, such holding shall not affect the applicability
ereof to any other person, property or circumstance.
The foregoing Ordinance, No . - j d'/ , was read and passed on
its first reading by the City Council of Zephyrhills, Florida on he
day of Oyu ' A. D. 1944.
