AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE PROVIDING
FOR THE CONDITIONS ,UPON WHICH THE INSTALLATION
AND REPAIR OF PLUMBING AND SANITARY FACILITIES
WITHIN THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS. MAY BE INSTALLED:
TO RESTRICT THE INSTALLATION OF ALL PLUMBING
FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT BY ANY PERSONOTHER
THAN A DULY- AUTHORIZED AND LICENSED PLUMBER; TO
PROVIDE FOR EXAMINATION AND LICENSING OF 'PLUMBERS
OF ALL CLASSIFICATIONS; TO PROVIDE FOR THE ISSUING
AND REVOCATION OF SUCH LICENSES; TO PROVIDE FOR
THE INSPECTION OF THEIR WORK; TO PROVIDE FOR THE
MAKING OF COMPLAINTS FOR IMPROPER INSTALLATION
AND TIE MANNER OF SETTLING SUCH- COMPLAINTS, AND
TO PROVIDE FOR A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION .OF
THIS ORDINANCE AND TO REPEAL ANY OFTHE ORDINANCES
OR PARTS OF ORDINANCE IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND TO
PROVIDE FOR ITS EFFECTIVE DATE.
Be it enacted and ordained by the City Council of the
City of Zephyrhills as follows:
Section 2 of said ordinance shall be amended to read
as follows:
That there is hereby established and created a .Board
of Examiners for plumbers, which said Board shall consist of a
Chairman, who shall be a
journeyman plumber , as well as, two additional members, one of which
shall be a private citizen living within the city limits' of .City of
Zephyrhills, the other of .which shall be a member of City Council
of City of -Zep'hyrhills, each of whom shall be appointed by the City
Council of City of Zephyrhills, and eadi of whom shall serve for and
during each calendar year , provided however , that the first Board
appointed shall serveuntil January 1 , 1958, and that in the month
of December, 1957, and annually thereafter the said Board shall be
appointed by the said City Council, each of whom shall serve until
the end of the succeeding year; that the said Board shall give or cause
to be given a suitable examination to determine the knowledge and
qualification of all applicants for a license as a plumber, whether
heibe a master plumber or a journeyman plumber; that the said exami-
nation shall consist of both an oral and a written examination, anc
a practical test in lead wiping, and such other questions as may be
deemed necessary by said Board. Any application for a license, as
such plumber , shall be filed with the City Clerk accompanied by a
fee of $5.00 for a master plumber or employing plumber, and $3.00
for journeyman plumber; that upon receipt of such application
thIt the City Clerk shall notify the Chairman of the Board of the
receipt of such application, and the Chairman of said Board shall
from time to time consult with the members of the said Board, and
that when in their discretion it is necessary or advisablt for them
to call and hold such an examination, that they may do so at the
time and place so designated by thee ,provided however, that they will
notify the said applicant not less than ten (10) days prior to the
date of the holding of the same and shall specify the place of the
holding of the said examination.
If any section, clause or provision .of .this Amendment )
to the ordinance shall for any reason be held void and of no effect,
it' shall not affect the validity of 'the remainder of this amendment.
The foregoing Amendment to Ordinance No. 79 was read
and passed on its first reading by the City Council of Zephyrhills,
Florida, on the day of November, 1957.
