A.N ORDINANCE DE.SIGNAT ING THE ENTIRE AREA
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS O.F THE, CITY
OF ZEPHYRHILLS. A BIRD SANCTUARY; PROHIBITING
THE UNLAWFUL. TRAPPING, HUNTING, KILLING AND
MAIMING OF B.IRDS.; PROVIDING. FR THE DESTRUCTION
S- AND/OR MEANS OF ELIMINATI.NG LOCALITIES INHABITED
BY BIRDS. WHICH ARE, A NUISANCE OR HEALTH MENACE
WITHIN THE CITY, AND PROVIDING FOR. THE PUNIISH-
/ / - 9, ME.NT FOR THE. VIOLATION THEREOF; REPEALING. ANY
I ORDINANCES. OR. PARTS OF ORDIlVANCES I.N CONFLICT
HEREWITH; AND .PROVIDING. FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE.
'OF THIS. ORDINANCE.
BE IT ENACTED AND ORDALNED: by the City Council of
th;e City of Zephyrhills_, Florida, as follows :
Section 1. That th-e entire area now embraced by
the corporate limits of the City of Zephyrhills, Florida, shall be
�esignated as a_ bird sanctuary.
Section 2, That a-dequat,e signs be erected at
e.-ntrance-s to the City, within the discretion of the City Council,
ignifyiig the designation of the area embraced in the corporate
imits of the City of Zeph-yrhil.ls as a .bird sanctuary.
Section 3. That it shall be unlawful to hunt, kill,
maim or trap birds of any species located within the corporate-
limits of the City of Zephyr-hills ; and it s.h.al.1 be unlawful t-o hunt
ith a slingshot, gun, or attempt to in any manner shoot or other
ise molest birds or any wild fowl nesting o-r locating within .the
corporate limits of the .City of Zephyr-hills.
.Secti.on 4. That it shall be unlawful to ;rob_ or
otherwise molest the nests of birds nesting o,r lo-ca.ted within the
corporate limit:s of the City of Zephyrhills.
S-ectio-n 5-. That in : the event starlings or other
imilar birds are found roosting., nesting or inhabiting any
locality within the corporate limits of the City of Zephyrhills
in -such numbers so as to. c.onst.itute a nuisance or health menance
to persons or pro.p.erty, it shall be the d:u.ty of the City Council
to. notify representatives of the Audubon Society, B.irdwatchers
Club, Garden Club, or Humane Society, if representatives of any 0'
he foregoing organizations are a-vailable, notifying them that
such a condition exists and .requesting that immediate action be
take.n by th-em to. eliminate the condition, If the condition has
of been eliminated by representatives of the above-named, organi-
zations, then the City Council sh-all take whatever action it deems
ecessary to eliminate such nuisance condition or health menace.
Section 6, That any person violating any of th,e
rovisions of this ordinance, upon conviction thereof, shall be
punished by a fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00) ,
or imprisonment in the City Jail for not more than thirty (30)
�ays, or by both fine and jail sentence.
If any ,se-ction, clause or provision of this ordinance
hall for any reason be held to be void and of no effect by any
ourt of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect the validity

This .ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its b-ecoming a law, a-s provided by the .Charter of the City
f Zephyrhills, Florida.
The foregoing ordinance was rea=d and passed on its
first reading by the City Council of Zephyrhills, Florida, on• he J day of February, 1950.
