ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ANY PERSON C ONDUC TINT2
AN AUCTION HOUSE OR IN BUSINESS AS PAWN BROKER,
JUNK OR SECONDHAND DEALER TO MAINTAIN A DAILY
REGISTER FOR SUCH BUSINESS, WHICH SHALL CONTAIN
AN AC CURATE DESCRIPTION AND PLACE OF RESIDENCE
OF ALL PERSONS FROM WHOM ITEMS OF PERSONAL
PROPERTY ARE PURCHASED OR RECEIVED OR TO WHOM
LOANS ARE. MADE, AND AN ACCURATE. DESCRIPTION OF
THE ITEM OF PERSONAL PROPERTY SO PURCHASED .OR
RECEIVED OR LOANED UPON, INCLUDING IDENTIFYING
MARKS, STAMPS, ETCHINGS, E.TC., AND REQUIRING. SAID
ITEMS TO BE ARRANGED S.O AS TO. BE READILY INSPECTED
BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OR OTHER AUTHORITIES
AND REQUIRING THAT SAID REGISTRY BE KEPT OPEN AT
ALL TIMES FOR INSPECTION, AND PROVIDING THAT A
COPY OF SAID REGISTRY SHALL BE FURNISHED TO THE
CHIEF OF THE POLICE. DAILY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF
ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA, AS. FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Register to be. kept; Information to be shown; Inspection:
y person conducting.an.auction house or engaged in business as. a pawnbroker,
ju k or secondhand dealer shall keep a register in connection with such business,
a d at the close of business on each day, or not later than 8:00 A.M. of the
si cceeding,day, shall enter or cause to be entered therein an accurate description
of the person from whom any article of personal property is purchased or received,
or to whom any loan is made. on personal. property, and shall include in such
d scription the. name, age, sex, color, nationality and place of residence of s. ch
p rson. In such register shall. also be entered an accurate description .of any
article of personal property so.purchased or received, or upon which a. loan is
made. Such description, shall contain.any mark, brand, monogram, words or
le ters blown, stamped, etched o.r otherwise permanently marked.upon such
a ticle, and all articles so purchased or received shall be s.o arranged in .stock
a to enable the same to be inspected by the Police. Department or any other person
in authority. . The register shall at all time s be kept open for t1 inspection and
e amination of the Chief of Police or any other person authorized by the Chief
of Police, to inspect the same.
Section 2. Transcript of register to be furnished police:
All pawnbrokers, junk or se-condhand dealers. and. persons co.nducting.auction
houses shall, not later than 12:00 M. of each.day, furnish to. the Chief of
Police a. full. and complete. copy or transcript of,the register in which is entered
e transactions of the preceding day as required by the provisions of this
article.
Section 3. If any secion, clause or provision of this ordinance
shall for any cause be held void and of no ,effect; that, it shall not affect the.
validity of the remainder of this ordinance.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
b. coming a. law as.provided by the Charter of the City of Ze.phyrhill-s, Florida.
