Question: Does 4-1.1 require that a fire pump room containing a fire pump for a sprinkler
system for a completely sprinklered building be protected by automatic sprinklers even if the
fire pump is in a separate building?
Answer: Yes. Wherever the fire pump is located, it would be considered a part of the
building and therefore required to be protected by automatic sprinklers.
