A RESO UTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ZEPHYRI ILLS, FLORIDA, PROVIDING AN HONORARY STREET
DESIGNA ION OF 8TH STREET FROM NORTH AVENUE TO HENRY
DRIVE T "CHIEF SHEARS WAY"; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREA , the City Council of Zephyrhills, Florida, pursuant to Chapter 166, Florida
Statutes and Ordin nce No.417 has jurisdiction over the City rights-of-way within its boundaries;
and
WHEREA , said authority includes the naming of the streets and rights-of-way within its
jurisdiction; and,
WHEREA , on May 22, 2017, the City Council approved a resolution providing an
honorary name de ignation of 8th Street from North Avenue to Henry Drive to also read "Chief
Shears Way"; and
WIJIEREAk this honorary street naming will not change the official name of 8th Street or
any physical addre s on 8th Street, but is made in recognition of the many contributions Police
Chief David Shear has made in 25 years of service to the Zephyrhills Police Department and City
of Zephyrhills, ser ing nine of those years as police chief.
NOW,TH REFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ZEPHI RHILLS,FLORIDA, in regular session duly assembled this 22"d day of
May 2017,that the road right-of-way known as 8th Street will also feature dual street signage as
"Chief Shears Wa " as designated by the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills, Florida, as a
commemorative honor to Chief David Shears.
DONE AND RESOLVED this 22nd day of May 2017.
