Basis of design: The air conditioning system selection and design was based on the MJ8 heat load�calculation
using Elite RHVAC software. The summer outdoor conditions used were 95 degrees dry bulb (91 fo�w/c orient) �,
�
temperature and 75 degrees wet bulb temperature A dry bulb temperature of 40 degrees was used for winter �
design temperature. The desired indoor conditions for summer are 75 degrees @ 55% relative humi�dity. The
desired winter indoor conditions are 70 degrees @ 55% relative humidity. The MJ8 building heat load calculatio�
output forms contain the building component types, insulation values, and window types required. �Remember �
to select cooling equipment that meets both sensible and latent loads. You must conduct an OwnerSurvey
to discuss design conditions, indoor air quality, health problems, combustion air safety, allowable swings in
temperature and humidity, zoning, use of internal and external shading devices, amount of heat and'�moisture I,
�
producing appliances, entertaining large number of people, st�and alone dehumidification, indoor air�f�ltration, �,
and any other items that affect MJ8 Calculations. Clients mus't carefully inspect each MJ8 calculation to be sure '�,
it matches the building. In cases where drawings do not show exact detail, HVAC designs will select MJ8 default��
values, so be sure the calculations match (especially the glass components)the building prior to p'ei�mit acquisitic
and construction. Notify HVAC Designs of any changes in building use, orientation, window type, insulation valuE
etc., so that revised calculations can be performeC. Remember the MJ8 calculation affects every aspect of the I
system design procedure and must be as accurate as possible, building orientation and glass type ils;critical. II
HVAC drawings are based on MJ8 calculation with the building orientation (compass north) noted on the drawing
Use air volume control dampers in all accessible branch ducts and perform a test& balance on the building. 'I
