contractors to undertake work, they may be 'required to be licensed in accordance with state and local regulations. If the
contractor is not licensed as required by law, both the owner and contractor may be cited for a misdemeanor violation
under state law. If the owner or intended contractor are uncertain as to what licensing requirements may apply for the
intended work, they are advised to contact the Pasco County Building Inspection Division—Licensing Section at 727-847-
8009. Furthermore, if the owner has hired a contractor or contractors, he is advised to have the contractor(s) sign
portions of the "contractor Block" of this application for which they will be responsible. If you, as the owner sign as the
contractor, that may be an indication that he is not properly licensed and is not entitled to permitting privileges in Pasco
County.
CONSTRUCTION LIEN LAW (Chapter 713, Florida Statutes, as amended): If valuation of work is $2,500.00 or more, 1 •
certify that I, the applicant, have been provided with a copy of the "Florida Construction Lien Law—Homeowner's
Protection Guide" prepared by the Florida Department of Agricultu�e and Consumer..Affairs. If the applicant is someone .
other than the "owner", I certify that I have obtained a copy of the above described document and promise in good faith to
deliver it to the"owner" prior to commencement. �
- CONTRACTOR'S/OWNER'S AFFIDAVIT: I certify that all the information in this application is accurate and
that all work will be done in compliance with all applicable laws regulating construction, zoning and land
development. Application is hereby made to obtain a permit to do work and installation as indicated. I certify
that no work or instaflation has commenced prior to issuance of a permit and that all work will be perforrned to
meet standards of all laws regulating construction, County and City codes, zoning regulations, and land
development regulations in the jurisdiction. I also certify that I understand that the regulations of other
government agencies may apply to the intended work, and that it is my responsibility to identify what actions I
must take to be in compliance.
If I am the AGENT FOR THE OWNER, I promise in good faith to inform the owner of the permifting conditions set forth in ,
this affidavit prior to commencing construction. I understand that a separate permit may be required for electrical work,
plumbing, signs, wells, pools, air conditioning, gas, or other installations not specifically included in the application. A
permit issued shall be construed to be a license to proceed with the work and not as authority to violate, cancel, alter, or
set aside any provisions of the technical codes, nor shall issuance of a permit prevent the Building Official from thereafter
requiring a correction of errors in plans, construction or violations of any codes. Every permit issued shall become invalid
unless the work authorized by such permit is commenced within six months of permit issuance, or if work authorized by
the permit is suspended or abandoned for a period of six(6} months after the time the work is commenced. An extension
may be requested, in writing, from the Building Official for a period not to exceed ninery (90) days and will demonstrate
justifiable cause for the extension. If work ceases for ninety(90) consecutive days, the job is considered abandoned.

Quiick response sprinklers are used in fixed fire protection systems. Wet, Dry, Deluge or Preaction. Care must be
exerased that the orifice size, temperature rating, deflector style and sprinkler type are in accordance with the latest
published standards of the National Fire Protection Association or the approving Authority Having Jurisdiction. Quick
response sprinklers are intended for installation as specified in NFPA 13. Quick response sprinklers and standard re-

All of the steel pipe to be used on this project meets or exceeds the requirements of one or
more of the following standards as required by Section 6.3 of NFPA 13-2010 edition:
ASTM A795 Specification for Black and Hot-Dipped Zinc Coated (Galvanized)
Welded and Seamless Steel Pipe for Fire Protection Use
ANS /ASTM A 53 Specification for Black and Hot-Dipped Zinc Coated (Galvanized)
Welded and Seamless Steel Pipe
I� ASTM A 135 Specification for Electric — Resistance Welded Steel Pipe
Manu�acturers may vary. As per Section 6.3.8 of NFPA 13-2010 edition, all piping shall be
marked alon its len th
g g to properly identify its type, schedule and manufacturing standard.
Additional approvals or listings are not required when:
1. Steel pipe meeting the above referenced ASTM specifications is used and joined by welding
' or�roll-grooved pipe and fittings, the minimum nominal wall thickness for pressures up to 300
ps� shall be in accordance with Schedule 10 for sizes up to 6 inches and .188 inches for 8" —
� 10�' pipe.
2. Steel pipe meeting the above referenced ASTM specifications is used and joined by
th�eaded fittings, the minimum wall thickness shall be in accordance with Schedule 40 in
si�es less than 8 inches for pressures up to 300 psi.

Series 717 FireLock check valve is a CAD-developed design that is hydrodynamically efficient.
Atotally rubber encapsulated disc on 4-12"/100-300mm sizes provides superior corrosion
resistance.This single disc design incorporates a spring assisted feature for non-slamming -
operation.For systems requiring a Riser Check option refer to section 10.09.
The 4"/100mm and larger sizes are provided with upstream and downstream drains and
a welded-in nickel seat design.All sizes of Series 717 can be installed in the vertical or
horizontal position to provide leak-free sealing under conditions as low as five feet of head.
Each valve is factory tested to 500psi/3440kPa.The 21h and 3"/65 and 80mm sizes are UL/
ULC Listed and 4"/100mm sizes and larger are UL/ULC Listed and FM Approved for services
ip to 250psi/1725kPa.Sizes 4-8"/100-200mm(except 165.1 mm size)are VdS approved.

FLOW CHARACTERISTICS NOTE: Placement of check valves too close to sources of unstable flow will shorten the life of '
the valve and potentially may damage the system.To extend valve life,valves should be installed
a reasonable distance downstream from pumps,elbows,expanders, reducers or other similar
devices.Sound piping practices dictate a minimum of five(5)times the pipe diameter for general

SWITCH AND WIRING 1.The supervisory switch contains two single pole,double throw,pre-wired switches.
2.Switches are rated:
10 amps @ 125 or 250 VAC/60 Hz
0.50 amps�125 VDC
0.25 amps @ 250 VDC
3.Switches supervise the valve in the"OPEN"position.
4 One switch has two#18 insulated wires per terminal,which permit complete supervision of leads
(refer to diagrams and notes below).The second switch has one#18 insulated wire per termi-
nal.This double circuit provides flexibility to operate two electrical devices at separate locations,
such as an indicating light and an audible alarm,in the area that the valve is installed.
5.A#14 insulated ground lead(green)is provided.

stripe—S2).In this example,the indicator light and alarm will stay on untii the valve is fully open. '
When the valve is fully open,the indicator light and alarm will go out.Cap off any unused wires
(e.g.brown with orange stripe).
Only Sl(two leads per terminaD may be connected to the fire alarm control panel.
� The connection of the alarm switch wiring shall be in accordance with NFPA 72 and the auxiliary
switch per NFPA 70(NEC).
