It is likely that the damage includes a number of the 2"X6"wall studs, king and jack studs supporting the window header, the window header, portions of the double 2"X6" top plate and possibly some of the '/Z" exterior wall sheeting. In accordance with the FLORIDA BUILDING CODE 5T" EDITION (2014) EXISTING BUILDINGS, the following classification is established for the repair of this identified insect damage. In accordance with Section 502.1, the proposed effort"is to be considered a repair". Further, since this structure has not sustained "substantial structural damage" in accordance with Section 404 Repairs, Section (B) 404.4 applies. This section provides that "For damage less than substantial structural damage, repairs shafl be allowed that restore the building to its pre-damage state, based on material properties and design strengths applicable at the time of original construction. The following specific directians are provided for the repair and restoration of the damage identified in the exteriar bearing wall structure of the �tevens Residence located at 37120 Foxrun P1ace, Zephyrhills, FL. (34542}. The specific d'srections are provided relative to fihe wall section shown in Attachment"A". • Shorinq -- Prior to demolition and removal of fihe damaged structures,shoring mus�be provided to insure that the roof and roof structures are adequate#y supported during the repair and restoration. • Demolitian — Upon removal of the interior and exterior wall covering materials from the damaged areas of the e�erior wall, the full extent af the damaged wood structures will be identified. All of the structurally damaged wood material is to be removed and replaced. Based on the preliminary evalua#ion, �his will involve the removal and�replacement of a number of#he 2"X6" wall studs, king and jaek studs supporting the window header, the windaw header, sections ofi the t#ouble 2"X6"top plate and possibly damaged sections of the '/�" OSB or%2" CDX Plywood sheeting. The part'rons of the double 2"X8»top plates, which are found to have been damaged must be removed in such a manner that the repiacement seetion of double top pla�e will be provided with a minimum 1 fi" of overlap splice. The pressure treated 2"X6" bottom plate is undamaged, however some additional attachment to the existing concre#e foundation structure may be required. • Load Bearing Frame Wall —The schematic load bearing wall structure is shawn in Attachment "B". This attachment should be employed as applicable in the repair and restoration of the damaged eacterior laad bearing wa11 s#ructure. The required strapping and connectors for the rebuilt and restored bearing walls are identifed in the attachment with capitai letters. The SIMPSON LSTA9 is to be secured employing 8 - 10d nails and provides a tension capability of 740 pounds. o C —This is a SIMPSON SSP stud plate tie, securing the 2"X6" cripple studs and the full length studs to the double top plate.
