Home My WebLink About1333-17 Establishing New Potable, Sewer and Reclaimed Water Rates II IIM20171537II II II.41 I III MftI II IIMI II III III ORDINANCE NO.: 1333-17 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF / ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA AMENDING SECTION 51.075 OF THE CITY CODE OF ORDINANCES ESTABLISHING A NEW SCHEDULE OF RATES AND CHARGES FOR THE USE OF OR AVAILABILITY FOR THE USE OF POTABLE WATER, WASTEWATER (SEWER), AND RECLAIMED WATER; PROVIDING FOR REPEALER, SEVERABILITY, AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills has determined that a large portion of the water and sewer infrastructure is reaching an age that requires replacement; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills has determined that to maintain positive revenue flows and keep up with replacement and growth needs, water rates should be increased 4%per year and sewer rates should increase 8%per year for a five-year period; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills, Florida, sitting in regular session that: Section 1. Recitals. The above recitals are true and correct and are incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. Amended Water Utility Rates. The water, sewer, and reclaimed water utility rates as outlined in Section 51.075 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Zephyrhills shall be replaced for utility bills rendered on or after January 1,2018 with the rates set forth in Exhibit"A"attached hereto. Section 3. Annual Rate Index. Unless specified otherwise, the initial water and sewer utility rates shall be adjusted on January 1, 2018 to the index identified in Exhibit"A". Section 4. Annual Rate Adjustment. Following the initial January 1, 2018 increase, the Water and Sewer rates shall increase annually on October 1 of each year, beginning October 1, 2018 at the rate of Four percent (4%) for Water and Eight percent (8%) for Sewer respectively for a total of five increases with the last increase being on October 1, 2021. The City Manager or designee, is hereby authorized to promulgate appropriate City documents in order to implement said rate adjustment each year. Severability. It is declared to be the intent of the City Council of the City of Zephyrhills, Florida, that if any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or provision of this ordinance is held invalid,the remainder of the ordinance shall be construed as not having continued the said section, subsection, sentence, clause, or provision and shall not be affected by such holding. Section 7. Inclusion into the Code.
