As we turn back the pages of history we find that just 12 years ago a merry little
group of 5 girls and 10 boys stepped into a "new world" . It took two directors, Mrs .
Hamilton and Mrs. Austin, to start them off in the right path. This gleeful and mis-
chievous group included Ada Austin, LeNora Lincoln, Jackie Massey, Murrel Nesbit,
Janet Johnson, Barney Beach, Raymond Bodiford, Odell Dees, Norman Daughtery , Frank
Greene , Fred Holt, Russell Kersey, Glenn Miller, Lynn Steve , and Edward Nichols.
Onward we advanced to the second grade . This year we added James Kearse , David
Bright, Barbara Streeter, Mary Frances Gill, Norma Jean Baker, Joe Thorn, and Elmer
Hinsz . Lenore and Glenn descided the "clan" was just to much for them and left us .
Mrs. Lee and Mrs . Austin amazingly survived the year.
In the next year Linda Sue Colbern and Lee Cumbie showed their smiling faces in
Zephyrhills . Glenn had enough of Dade City and came back to join Casey and Bright.
This combination proved to be nearly to much for Mrs. Campbell and Mrs . Austin to
handle .
Paul Canaday and Barbara Welsch descided to join us in the fourth grade . This
was the year we got brave and played games like "drop the handkerchief" with "fire -
crackers" .
The next fall the girls sent out an "S. O. S. " . There were just to many boys so
Jerry Lee Jisher, Margaret Keen, Mary Ann Mattingly, Peggy Prowant, and Jean Suther-
land came to help them out. Linden Laviano came to re -enforce the boys side . Mrs .
Hart could handle us only half the year, Mrs . Fedor came to help her the second
semester. It was with their aid we learned the capitals of the 48 states. (How many do
you know now? )
In the sixth grade David Bright, who had been in Wildwood for a few years came
back. Audrey Oliver also joined us this year .
Now we 're in Junior High ! Oh what fun. Joe Thorn came again after having been
gone several years. Susanne Coolidge joined us this year also. (Susie , who told you
Peg was at ZHS. )
Larry Hill, Patricia Edwards, and Virginia Edgeman came in our last year of Junior
High. This was the year we had a BOY'S beauty contest for an assembly program . They
dressed as girls .
Now we are Freshmen ! Our class officers included James Kearse , Joe Thorn, Larry
Hill , Linden Laviano, Paul Canaday, and Jackie Massey . Miss Benson and Mrs . Anderson
were our homeroom teachers .
Magazine sales were among the money making projects for our Sophmore year . Our
officers this year included James Kearse , Odell Dees, Glenn Miller, Joe Thorn, Larry
Hill, Linden Laviano, and Gerald Price and Bobby Flanagan were our new boys.
The Junior year came and brought with it football dances, the Junior-Senior Prom,
our theme being "A Touch of the Orient" and our class play, "A Boy Named Beulah " .
Our rings came and another year ended all to quickly . Our officers this year were Pres.-
James Kearse , V. Pres . -Joe Thorn, Sec . -Jackie Massey and Treas . -Paul Canaday .
Charlotte Collins, Elaine Collins, Lenore Lincoln, Frances Reagon, and Gracie Shelton
shared our work and fun as the "new Girls" .
The day we so long awaited finally arrived . We were at last Seniors ! Before we
knew it we had elected class officers, who were Pres . -James Kearse , V. Pres. -Paul
Canaday , Sec . -Jackie Massey , Treas . -Larry Hill. We were having Annual Staff meeting,
a concession stand at the footballs games, and practices for our Senior Class Play , "Books
and Crooks " . During all this busy buz of activities we ordered our cap and gowns, cards
and invitations, and before we knew it, we were due for a two weeks vacation . When
we came back our cards had arrived and we all exchanged with each other. Next came
our class trip to Tallahassee , and the Prom and Banquet in our honor . Then the night
when we put on our cap and gown and headed for the Home Theatre and Graduation .
