HomeMy WebLinkAbout0158 JROTC y�.¢ The JROTC program was newly established this o year and is the first of its kind in Pasco County. Col- onel Mike Cockill and Sergeant Major John Mc- Maines, recent active Army retirees, are the ZHS JROTC teachers. JROTC's objective is to provide a military instruc- tion s` which will benefit the student, community and nation. The program develops in each cadet good citizenship, self-reliance, leadership, responsiveness to constituted authority, and the ability to live and work cooperatively with others. Likewise, JROTC im- proves students' writing and speaking skills, stresses the importance of physical fitness in maintaining good health, and teaches basic military skills. JROTC isa-four-year program offering one elective credit per year. Some 192 ZHS students (over 17% of the student body)enrolled in J ROTC classes this year.
