HomeMy WebLinkAbout0024 Wacky and tacky By Erica Kinsman and Lindsey Knowlton Homecoming week changes each year so that students and staff have a variety of dress up days throughout their high school career. In previous years, there have been sports fanatic days, generation days, and stop light days. This year, our featured dress up day was wacky tacky where students went crazy and were encouraged to dress as ridiculous as possible. People found the best outfit for this day simply by rummaging through their drawers and picking out whatever they came to first. This included plaids, stripes, polka dots, and floral patterns all in the same outfit - matching was not allowed. "It was funny to see the crazy trends, particularly the tacky plaid and extremely baggy pants," said Rachel Wise. On the other hand, instead of dressing in multiple patterns, most seniors went a differ- ent direction. As a class, they decided to dress up as nerds. With suspenders, ties, and taped up glasses. "The idea to dress nerdy was probably one of the best ideas we've had as a class," stated Shelby Maytum, who looked like a perfect nerd. Each morning, the administrators and teachers would watch and judge as each class was called up to walk across the stage to see who had the most participation for the day. On tacky day, the juniors stole the show with the craziest outfits.
