Alternate Beams: FB 1, RB2, and HI
The builder for this project requested alternate beam designs for�the beams designated
as FB1, RB2, and H1 shown on the framing plans of the approved plans. After
reviewing the plans and the field conditions it was determined that the following framing
alternatives would be acceptable:
FB1=Composite-beam-configured-with-(4)2x8-S-Y-.P-.#2-with,Y2'i plywood-flitch-plates
reinforced with 1-3/4" x 7-1/4" LVL attached to each side of the:beam for a total width of
10.5". The plies are to be attached together with Y" diameter thru bolts with lock nuts
and washers spaced at 12"o.c. maximum and 6" from each sidejof the support. The
4x4 post on either side of the must be reinforced with 2x4 S.Y.P!#2 wall studs to match
the beam width so that the beam width is fully supported.
RB2: Composite beam configured with (2) 2x12 S.Y.P.#2 with Y2" plywood flitch plates
reinforced with a 2x12 S.Y.P.#2 attached to each side of the beam for a total width of 7".
- The plies are to be attached together with '/"-diameter thru bolts with-lock nuts and -
washers spaced at 12"o.c. maximum and 6" from each side of the supports.

1-11: 'Composite beam configured with (2) 2x6 S.Y.P.#2 with '/" plywood flitch plates
reinforced with a 1-3/4" x 5-1/2" LVL to each side of the beam for a total width of 6".
The plies are to be attached togethervith 16D nails at 12"o.c.-applied to each side of
