REFRIGERATION CRITERIA
SCOPE OF WORK
REFRIGERATION CONTRACTOR
* RECEIVE, UNLOAD, AND INSTALL ALL REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS, REMOTE E AIR- COOLED
CONDENSERS, UNIT COOLERS, COILS, REFRIGERATED DISPLAY FIXTURES, WALK-IN
COOLERS AND FREEZER PANELS.
* FURNISH AND INSTALL INTERCONNECTING REFRIGERATION PIPING, INCLUDING DEFROST
AND TEMPERATURE CONTROL VALVES AS DENOTED IN REFRIGERATION LEGEND.
* NOTE THAT REFRIGERANT IS TO BE SUPPLIED BY REFRIGERATION CONTRACTOR.
* FURNISH AND INSTALL REFRIGERATION LINE INSULATION: J" FOR MEDIUM TEMPERATURE
SYSTEMS AND 1" FOR LOW TEMPERATURE SYSTEMS. (NOTE: ALL EXPOSED PIPING IS
TO BE INSULATED & WRAPPED WITH WHITE VINYL PVC JACKETING MATERIAL.)
* ALL LIQUID LINES ARE TO BE INSULATED ON SUB -COOLED SYSTEMS WITH }" INSULATION.
* INSULATION ON EXTERIOR EXPOSED TO SUNLIGHT IS TO BE COVERED WITH VINYL PVC
JACKETING OR U V RATED PAINT DESIGNED FOR INSULATION.
* FURNISH AND INSTALL DISPLAY CASE AND UNIT COOLER CONDENSATE DRAIN PIPING.
* FURNISH AND INSTALL INSULATION ON ALL CONDENSATE DRAINS IN COOLERS AND
FREEZERS THAT ARE BELOW 32 DEGREES F.
* SUPPLY HEAT TAPE FOR ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR ON FREEZER AND COOLER
CONDENSATE DRAINS THAT ARE BELOW 32 DEGREES F.
* SET SUPERHEAT TO MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS ON ALL THERMOSTATIC
EXPANSION VALVES INCLUDING REFRIGERATED CASE AND WALK-IN EVAPORATORS.
* START UP AND ADJUST EQUIPMENT.
* PROVIDE A 90 DAY PARTS AND LABOR WARRANTY ON ALL SUPPLIED & INSTALLED
COMPONENTS.
* ASSIST MANAGEMENT IN OBTAINING OR PROVIDE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTIES.
* TEST RACK CONTROLLER FOR PROPER INSTALLATION, ALARMS & SETTINGS AND
PROVIDE WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION OF TESTS AND RESULTS.
* PROVIDE A LEGEND OF DEFROST SCHEDULES TO THE SAVE A LOT PROJECT MANAGER.
* USE "LONG RADIUS" TYPE ELL'S IN SUCTION AND LIQUID LINES AT ALL 90 DEGREE
ELL'S.
NOTE., DO NOT USE 45 DEGREE ELLS.
* EVACUATE SYSTEM WITH A VACUUM PUMP SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THIS PURPOSE
TO A LEVEL OF 1500 MICRONS.
* BREAK VACUUM ON SYSTEM BY CHARGING A SMALL AMOUNT OF REFRIGERANT INTO THE
SYSTEM THROUGH A DRIER UNTIL THE PRESSURE IS BROUGHT TO "0" PSIG.
REPEAT VACUUM (AS ABOVEO TO A LEVEL OF 500 MICRONS.
ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR
* FURNISH AND INSTALL THE NECESSARY INTERCONNECTING WIRES AND CONDUIT
BETWEEN THE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM 1 AND THE AIR-COOLED CONDENSERS.
* FURNISH AND INSTALL THE NECESSARY INTERCONNECTING WIRES AND CONDUIT
BETWEEN THE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM AND THE ATTACHED REFRIGERATED LOADS.
* MOUNT AND INSTALL ONE TEMPERATURE SENSOR PER WALK-IN COOLER OR FREEZER.
NOTE: THE TEMPERATURE SENSORS WILL BE SUPPLIED FROM THE FACTORY
SHIPPED LOOSE)
) FOR FIELD INSTALLATION.
EXCEPTION: CASE SENSOR O S FOR NSW CASES WILL BE FACTORY D CT MOUNTED.)

* FURNISH AND INSTALL THE NECESSARY INTERCONNECTING WIRES BETWEEN THE
REFRIGERATION SYSTEM AND TEMPERATURE SENSORS MOUNTED IN EACH
REFRIGERATED CASE. THE CASE SENSORS WILL BE FACTORY MOUNTED, NOTICE THAT
ONLY BELDEN #8762 OR EQUIVALENT CABLE SHOULD BE USED FOR COMPLETION OF
THIS CONNECTION. THE BARE GROUND SHIELD, OR DRAIN WIRE, SHOULD BE
CONNECTED AT THE CONTROL PANEL DOOR OF THE REFRIGERATION SYSTEM.
* FURNISH AND INSTALL THE NECESSARY CONNECTING WIRES BETWEEN THE
REFRIGERATION SYSTEM AND KLIXONS MOUNTED IN CASES AND UNIT
COOLERS/FREEZERS. THESE KLIXONS ARE TO BE WIRED IN SERIES TO THE DIGITAL
INPUTS ON THE CONTROLLER. KLIXONS WILL BE USED FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED
TERMINATION OF DEFROST.
* FURNISH AND INSTALL THE NECESSARY INTERCONNECTING WIRES BETWEEN EACH OF
THE REFRIGERATION SYSTEMS AND A LOCATION TO BE DETERMINED BY SAVE -A -LOT,
LTD., FOR ESTABLISHING AN IN STORE ALARM.
* FURNISH (1) 120 VOLT, 15 AMP OUTLET IN THE MEAT COOLER AND FREEZER FOR
CONDENSATE LINE HEAT TRACE. COORDINATE WITH THE PROJECT MANAGER AND
REFRIGERATION CONTRACTOR.
* INSTALL HEAT TRACE MATERIAL SUPPLIED BY THE REFRIGERATION CONTRACTOR
ON THE MEAT COOLER AND FREEZER.
* VERIFY FACTORY SETTING ON WIRING ROTATION OF EACH COMPRESSOR.
* PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO THE REFRIGERATION CONTRACTOR FOR START UP OF ALL
REFRIGERATION ELECTRICAL.
* IF HVAC AND LIGHTING ARE CONTROLLED BY BY THE REFRIGERATION CONTROLLER,
COORDINATE INSTALLATION AND FINAL TERMINATION WITH THE BUILDING ELECTRICIAN.
PARTS WILL BE FURNISHED BY SAVE -A -LOT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF COMMUNICATION
INTERFACE BOARDS IF REQUIRED.

Refrigeration Control Standards:
1. Provide a Refrigeration Rack with a Danfoss AK2-SC255 controller including inputs and outputs configured as specified in the
Save -A -Lot Master 1/0 list.
2. Refrigeration Rack should contain modem p/n 08OZ2102 wired as shown on Sheet 7 Detail 6.
3. Setup the Suction, Condenser, Temperature and Defrost settings as specified based on OEM manufacturer.
4. For Refrigeration Systems not shown on the standard list add the following points to the end of the standard point list:
a. For refrigerated fixtures provide a supply air temperature input per fixture and wired as shown on Sheet 7 Detail

b. For systems that require electric defrost provide a termination temperature input wired as shown on Sheet 7
Detail 4.
C. For systems that require electric defrost provide an out put relay for controlling the defrost contactor
d. For all systems being added provide an output relay for controlling the liquid line solenoid.
e. For systems that require the evaporator fan to be cycled off during defrost provide an output relay to cycle the
evaporator fan.
HVAC Control Standards:
1. Wire zone temp and RH sensors serving zone areas as shown on Sheet 7 Detail 7.
2. Locate sensors 6' off the floor as shown on mechanical drawings.
3. For each RTU control Fan and each stage of heating and cooling available.
4. Outside air dampers manually set to maintain the applicable minimum outside air standard.
Responsibilities Refrigeration Rack Manufacturer:
1. Compile and post on the rack a master 1/0 list.
2. Compile all parts need to install an operational Danfoss AK2-SC255 system except items marked by others in details.
3. Mount and wire all components in an electrical panel except items designated to be mounted by installer.
4. Configure controller and enter all set points prior to delivery to site.
Responsibilities HVAC installer, Refrigeration installer and Electricians:
1. Install and terminate as instructed in details. F
