114.16.4 Grab Bars. Grab bars for water closets not located
in stalls shall comply with 11.4.26 and Fig. 29. The grab bar
behind the water closet shall be 36" (915mm) minimum.
11-4.16.5 Flush Controls. Flush controls shall be hand
operated or automatic and shall comply with 11-4.27.4. Controls
for flush valves shall be mounted on the wide side of toilet
areas no more than 44" (1120mm) above the floor.

4.15 DRINKING FOUNTAINS AND WATER COOLERS.
4.15.1. Minimum Number. Drinking fountains or water
coo ers
required to be accessible by 4.1 shall comply with 4.15.

4.15.4 Controls. Controls shall comply with 4.27.4. Unit

4.15.5 Clearances.
(1) Wall and post -mounted cantilevered units shall
have a clear knee space between the bottom

mm) that allows a person in a wheelchair to

27(c) and M. This dear floor space shall
comply with �.2.4.

4.13 DOORS.
4.13.1 General. Doors required to be accessible by 4.1 shall
comply requirements of 4.13.
4.13.2 Revolving Doors and Turnstiles. Revolving doors
or Tumstiles steal not be e only of passage at an
accessible entrance or along an accessible route. An
accessible gate or door shall be provided adjacent to the
tumstile or revolving door and shall be so designed as to
facilitate the same use pattern.
4.13.3 Gates. Gates, including ticket gates, shall meet all

4.13.7 Two Doors in Series. The minimum space between 32 min

4.13.9* Door Hardware. Handles, pulls, latches, locks and
other opera ing devices on accessible doors shall have a
shape that is easy to grasp with one hand and does not
require tight grasping, tight pinching, or twisting of the wrist to
operate. Lever -operated mechanisms, and U-shaped handles
are acceptable designs. When sliding doors are fully opened,
4.19 LAVATORIES AND MIRRORS,
4.19.1 General. The requirements of 4.19 shall apply to
lavatory fixtures, vanities, and built-in lavatories.
4.19.2 Height and Clearances. Lavatories shall be
mounted with the rim or counter surface no higher than 34"
(865 mm) above the finish floor. Provide a clearance of at
least 29" (735 mm) above the finish floor to the bottom of the
apron. Knee and toe clearance shall comply with Fig. 31,
4.19.3 Clear Floor Space. A dear floor space 30" by 48"
(760 mm by 1220 mm) complying with 4.2.4 shall be provided
in front of a lavatory to allow forward approach. Such dear
floor space shall adjoin or overlap an accessible route and
shall extend a maximum of 19" (485 mm) underneath the
lavatory (see Fig. 32).
4.19.4. Exposed Pipes and Surfaces. Hot water and drain
pipes under lavatories shall be insulated or otherwise
configured to protect against contact. There shall be sharp or
abrasive surfaces under lavatories.
4.19.5 Faucets. faucets shall comply with 4.27.4 Lever -
operated, push -type, and electronically controlled mechanisms
are examples of acceptable designs. If self -dosing valves are
used the faucet shall remain open for at least 10 seconds.
4.19.6* Mirrors. Mirrors shall be mounted with the bottom
edge of the reflecting surface no higher than 40" (115 mm)
above the finish floor (see Fig. 31).

4.13.10* Door Closers. If a door has a closer, then the
sweep period of the closer shall be adjusted so that from an I
open position of 70°, the door will take at least 3 seconds to _
move to a point 3"(75mm) from the latch, measured to the \ \

4.13.11* Door Opening Force. The maximum force for
pushing or pulling open a door shall be as follows:
(1) Fire doors shall have the minimum opening
force allowable by the appropriate
administrative authority.

4.13.12* Automatic Doors and Power -Assisted Doors. If 1220

4.14 ENTRANCES.
4.14.1 Minimum Number. Entrances required to be
accessible by 4.1 shall e part of an accessible route
complying with 4.3. Such entrances shall be connected byy an
accessible route to public transportation stopps, to accessble
parkin and passenger loading zones, and to ublic streets or
sidewalks if available (see 4.3.2(1)). They shah also be Fig. 26

1. Wall Assembly — The 1 or 2 hr fire -rated gypsum wallboard/stud wall assembly shall be
constructed of the materials and in the manner described in the individual U30O or U400 Series Wall
or Partition Design in the UL Fire Resistance Directory and shall include the following construction
features:
A. Studs — Wall framing may consist of either wood studs or steel channel studs. Wood studs
to consist of nom 2 by 4 in. (51 by 102 mm) lumber spaced 16 in. (406 mm) OC. Steel studs
to be min 3-1/2 in. (89 mm) wide and spaced max 24 in. (610 mm) OC.
B. Gypsum Board* — The gypsum board type, thickness, number of layers, fastener type and
sheet orientation shall be as specified in the individual U300 or U40O Series Design in the UL
Fire Resistance Directory. Max diam of opening is 5 in. (127 mm).
The hourly F Rating of the firestop system is equal to the hourly fire rating of the wall assembly
in which it is installed.
2. Steel Sleeve (Optional) — Nom 3 in. (76 mm) diam (or smaller) Schedule 40 (or thinner) steel
pipe friction -fit into wall assembly, flush with both surfaces of wall. When steel sleeve is used, T Rating
is 1 hr.
3. Through Penetrants — One nonmetallic pipe or conduit to be centered within the firestop
system, The annular space shall be min 1 /4 in. (6 mm) to max 1-1 /4 in (32 mm). Pipe or conduit to be
rigidly supported on both sides of the wall assembly. The following types and sizes of nonmetallic
pipes or conduits may be used:
A. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Pipe — Nom 3 in. (76 mm) diam (or smaller) Schedule 40 cellular
or solid core PVC pipe for use in closed (process or supply) or vented (drain, waste or vent)
piping systems.
B. Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) Pipe — Nom 3 in. (76 mm) diam (or smaller) SDR 13.5
CPVC pipe for use in closed (process or supply) piping systems.
C. Rigid Nonmetallic Conduit+ — Nom 3 in. (76 mm) diam (or smaller) Schedule 40 PVC
conduit installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NFPA No. 70).
D. Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) Pipe — Nom 3 in. (76 mm) diam (or smaller) Schedule

4. Firestop System —The firestop system shall consist of the following:
A. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* — Wrap Strip — Nom 1 /8 in. (3.2 mm) or 3/16 in. (4.8 mm) thick
intumescent material faced on both sides with a plastic film, supplied in 2 in. (51 mm) wide
strips or 1 /8 or 1 /4 in. (3.2 or 6 mm) thick intumescent material faced on both sides with a
plastic film, supplied in 1-1 /2 in. (38 mm) wide strips. Single layer of wrap strip wrapped
around the through penetrant with the ends butted and held in place by means of foil
tape. The wrap strip is slid along the through penetrant into annulus such that 1 /4 in. (6
mm) of the wrap strip protrudes from the wall. One set of wrap strips to be installed on
each side of wall. As an option when 1 /8 in. (3.2 mm) thick wrap strip (BLU2) is used, the
strips may be cut to a width of 1-1 /2 in. (38 mm).
The T Rating of the firestop system is dependent upon the hourly rating of the wall, the type
of through penetrant and the type of wrap strip used as tabulated below:

5. Joint Tape and Compound — Vinyl, dry or premixed joint compound, applied in two coats to joints
and screw heads; paper tape, 2 in. wide, embedded in first layer of compound over all joints. As an
alternate, nominal 3/32 in. thick gypsum veneer plaster may be applied to the entire surface of
Classified veneer baseboard. Joints reinforced.
6. Resilient Channel — (Optional -Not Shown) — 25 MSG gaiv steel resilient channels spaced vertically
max 24 in. OC, flange portion attached to each intersecting stud with 1 /2 in. long type S-12 panhead
steel screws.
6A. Steel Framing Members (Not Shown)* — As an alternate to Item 3, furring channels and resilient
sound isolation clip as described below:
a. Furring Channels — Formed of No. 25 MSG galv steel. 2-3/8 in. wide by 7/8 in. deep, spaced 24 in.
OC perpendicular to studs. Channels secured to studs as described in Item b. Ends of adjoining
channels are overlapped 6 in. and tied together with double strand of No. 18 SWG galv steel wire
near each end of overlap. As an alternate, ends of adjoining channels may be overlapped 6 in. and
secured together with two self -tapping #6 framing screws, min. 7/16 in. long at the midpoint of the
overlap, with one screw on each flange of the channel.
b. Steel Framing Members* — Used to attach furring channels (Item a) to studs (Item 1). Clips spaced
48 in. OC., and secured to studs with 1-5/8 in. wafer or hex head Type S steel screw through the
center grommet. Furring channels are friction fitted into clips.

Section A -A
1. Wall Assembly — The 1 or 2 hr fire rated gypsum wallboard/stud wall assembly shall
be constructed of the materials and in the manner specified in the individual U300 or
U400 Series Wall and Partition Designs in the UL Fire Resistance Directory and shall
include the following construction features:
A. Studs — Wall framing may consist of either wood studs or steel channel studs.
Wood studs to consist of nom 2 by 4 in. lumber spaced 16 in. OC. Steel studs to be
min 2-1/2 in. wide and spaced max 24 in. OC
B. Gypsum Board* — 5/8 in. thick, 4 ft wide with square or tapered edges. The gypsum
wallboard type, thickness, number of layers, fastener type and sheet orientation shall
be as specified in the individual U30O or U400 Series Design in the UL Fire Resistance
Directory. Max diam of opening is 2-1/2 in.
The hourly Rating of the firestop system is equal to the hourly fire rating of the wall
assembly in which it is installed.
2. Through -Penetrating Product* — Max four copper conductor No. 5 AWG (or
smaller) aluminum or steel Metal -Clad Cable+. Max one metal -clad cable to be
installed either concentrically or eccentricity within the firestop system. The annular
space within the firestop system shall be a min 0 in. (point contact) to a max 3/8 in.
Through -penetrating product to be rigidly supported on both sides of wall assembly.
NORTHERN CABLES INC
2A. Cables — As an alternate to Item 2, one cable to be installed either
concentrically or eccentricity within the firestop system. The annular space within the
firestop system shall be a min 0 in. (point contact) to a max 1 /4 in. cable to be rigidly
supported on both sides of wall assembly. The following types and sizes of cables
may be used:
A. Max 50 pair No. 24 AWG (or smaller) copper conductor telephone cables with
polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation and jacket materials.
B. Max 3/C (with ground) No. 10 AWG (or smaller) PVC insulated and jacketed
nonmetallic sheathed (Romex) cable.
C. Max 3/C (with ground) No. 5 AWG aluminum conductor service entrance cable
with PVC insulation and jacket materials.
3. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* — Sealant or Putty — Fill material applied within the
annulus, flush with both surfaces of wall. Additional fill material to be installed such
that a crown is formed around the penetrating item. The T Rating of the firestop
system is dependent upon the hourly rating of the wall, type of through penetrant
and type and thickness of fill material as tabulated below:

7.2 MEANS OF EGRESS COMPONENTS
7.2.1.2.3 Minimum Width.
Door openings in means of egress shall be not less than 32 in. (81 cm) in clear width. Where a
pair of doors is provided, not less than one of the doors shall provide not less than a 32-in.
(81-cm) dear width opening.
7.2.1.3 Floor Level.
The elevation of the floor surfaces on both sides of a door shall not vary by more than 114in.
(1.3 cm). The elevation shall be maintained on both sides of the doorway for a distance not
less than the width of the widest leaf. Thresholds at doorways shall not exceed ''Y2 in. (1.3 cm)
in height. Raised thresholds and floor level changes in excess of'% in. (0.64 cm) at doorways
shall be bevelled with a slope not steeper than 1 in 2.7.5
ARRANGEMENT OF MEANS OF EGRESS
7.5.1.1 Exits shall be located, and exit access shall be arranged, so that exits are readily accessible at
all times.
7.5.1.2 Corridors shall provide exit access without passing through any intervening rooms other than
corridors, lobbies, and other spaces permitted to be open to the corridor, unless otherwise
provided in 7.5.1.2.1 and 7.5.1.2.2..
7.5.1.3.1 Where more than one exit, exit access, or exit discharge is required from a building or portion
thereof, such exits, exit accesses, or exit discharges shall be remotely located from each other
and be arranged to minimize the possibility that more than one has the potential to be blocked
by any one fire or other emergency condition..

ANY FIELD RELATED DISCREPANCIES THAT ARE DISCOVERED DURING THE SDV WILL BE BROUGHT TO THE
ATTENTION OF THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR AND CORRESPONDING TRADES ON SITE. THESE ISSUES
WILL BE DOCUMENTED AND FORWARDED TO THE APPROPRIATE SALES OFFICE. IF CAS SERVICE HAS TO
RESOLVE A DISCREPANCY THAT IS A FIELD ISSUE, THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR WILL BE NOTIFIED AND
