FIRE ALARM GENERAL NOTES:
1. THESE UNITS OR DEVICES SHALL BE INSTALLED USING APPROVED
MATERIALS AND WIRING PRACTICES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
NFPA 70 (2017'EDITION) AND N.E.C. (2017'EDITION) CHAPTER 7.
ARTICLE 760 POWER LIMITED SECTION AND ALL APPLICABLE
LOCAL WIRING ORDINANCES.
2. CONDUCTORS AND CABLES FOR USE WITH THIS POWER LIMITED
FIRE ALARM SYSTEM SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE TO
THE NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION ARTICLE # 760
POWER LIMITED SECTION AND SHALL BE LISTED FOR THIS USE.
CONDUCTORS SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM RATING OF 300 VOLTS AND
SHALL BE OF SOLID COPPER OR BUNCH -TINNED STRANDED COPPER
CONDUCTORS.
3. ALL NEW WIRING INSTALLED IN DUCTS, PLENUMS AND OTHER
SPACES USED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AIR SHALL BE TYPE FPLP, AS
PER N.E.C. ARTICLE # 760-154.
4. FPLP OR FPLR SIGNAL CABLE FOR USE IN ACCORDANCE WITH N.E.C.
(2017'EDITION) ARTICLE 725 CLASS 2 OR 3 CIRCUIT.
5. MINIMUM CABLE SIZE:
A - # 18 AWG COPPER (#18 FPL OR FPLP) FOR INITIATING CIRCUITS.
B - # 16 AWG COPPER (# 16 FPL OR FPLP) FOR NACs.
6. CONDUCTORS USED IN DUCTS OR PLENUM CEILINGS FOR
ENVIRONMENTAL AIR SHALL EMPLOY THE USE OF ELECTRICAL
METALLIC TUBING OR PLENUM TYPE CABLE WHICH MEETS THE
REQUIREMENTS OF THE NATIONAL PROTECTION ASSOCIATION AND
ARE U.L. LISTED OR COMPATIBLE FOR THIS USE.
7. CONDUIT FILL: 40% MAXIMUM.
8. A BUSHING SHALL BE INSTALLED WHERE CABLES EMERGE FROM
RACEWAY Y USED FOR MECHANICAL SUPPORT OR PROTECTION IN
ACCORDANCE WITH NEC 760.3
9. PENETRATIONS: AS NOTED ON DETAIL.
10. THE LOCATION OF AUDIBLE DEVICES SHALL BE DESIGNED TO BE
EFFECTIVELY HEARD 15 DB. ABOVE AMBIENT NOISE LEVEL OBTAINED
UNDER NORMAL CONDITION OF OCCUPANCY AS PER ARTICLE 18.4.3
OF THE NFPA 72 2016 EDITION.
11. PULL STATIONS SHALL BE INSTALLED NOT LESS THAN 42" AND
NOT MORE THAN 48" FROM THE FINISHED FLOOR, MUST BE
LOCATED WITHIN 5 FEET OF' EXITS.

12. WALL MOUNTED VISIBLE APPLIANCES SHALL BE INSTALLED SUCH THAT

OR AT THE MOUNTING HEIGHT SPECIFIED USING THE PERFORMANCE

CEILING -MOUNTED VISIBLE APPLIANCES SHALL BE INSTALLED PER
NFPA 72 (2016 EDITION) ARTICLE 18.5.5.2/TABLE 18.5.5.4.1 b
13. ALL EQUIPMENT TO BE INSTALLED SHALL BE COMPATIBLE, NEW
AND U.L. LISTED FOR USE IN FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS.
14, THIS SYSTEM SHALL BE POWER LIMITED AND ALL EQUIPMENT

15. THE INSTALLATION OF THIS FIRE ALARM SYSTEM SHALL COMPLY WITH:
a) FLORIDA FIRE PREVENTION CODE (FFPC) 7th EDITION (2020).
b) FLORIDA BUILDING CODE (FBC) 7th EDITION (2020).
c) NFPA 1 "FIRE CODE" 2018 EDITION.
d) NFPA 101 "LIFE SAFETY CODE" 2018 EDITION.
e) NFPA 72 "NATIONAL FIRE CODE" 2016 EDITION.
f) NFPA 70 " NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE" 2017 EDITION.
16. THE SUPERVISING OF THIS ALARM SYSTEM SHALL BE AT A CONTINUOUSLY
ATTENDED SUPERVISING AND MUST BE COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS
[NFPA 72 EDITION 2016].
17. CONNECTIONS (120 VOLTS) TO FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL AND
POWER SUPPLIES SHALL BE ON A DEDICATED BRANCH CIRCUIT(S).
THE CIRCUITS AND CONNECTIONS SHALL BE MECHANICALLY
PROTECTED.
CIRCUIT DISCONNECTING MEANS SHALL HAVE A RED MARKING.
SHALL BE ACCESSIBLE ONLY TO AUTHORIZED PERSONAL, AND SHALL
BE IDENTIFIED "AS FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT" THE LOCATION OF THE
CIRCUIT DISCONNECTING MEANS SHALL BE PERMANENTLY IDENTIFIED
AT THE FIRE ALARM PANEL.
18. THE MAXIMUM HEIGHT TO THE TOP OF THE CONTROL PANEL AND ANY
INSTALLED POWER SUPPLY SHALL NOT EXCEED 6'-O" ABOVE THE FINISHED
FLOOR. IT ALSO MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS ESTABLISHED WHERE PANELS
WILL BE LOCATED IN A ROOM WITH A SPACE OF AT LEAST 3'-O" IN FRONT
OF THEM.
19. CONTROL PANEL AND ANY NECESSARY POWER SUPPLY SHALL BE
LOCATED IN A MECHANICALLY VENTILATED ROOM. NFPA.72/10.3.5.3
20. BATTERY CALCULATIONS (WHERE BATTERIES ARE PROVIDED) AND
DROP CALCULATIONS FOR NOTIFICATION APPLIANCE CIRCUITS COMPLY
NFPA 72 7.2.1 (7) & (8)
21. ALL SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL BE MOUNTED MORE THAN 3'-O" FROM A/C
DIFFUSERS.
22. RECORD OF COMPLETION WILL BE PREPARED BY OMBS SECURITY SYSTEM, LLC.,
AND A COPY WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE OWNER AND TO THE CITY FIRE RESCUE
DEPARTMENT.
23. THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION WILL BE ON SITE UPON THE FINAL
ACCEPTANCE TEST OF THE SYSTEM:
- OWNER'S MANUAL AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS COVERING
ALL SYSTEM EQUIPMENT.
- RECORD DRAWINGS.
24. CIRCUIT IDENTIFICATION AND ACCESSIBILITY (NFPA 72):
10.6.5.2.1-THE LOCATION OF THE DEDICATED BRANCH CIRCUIT
DISCONNECTING MEANS SHALL BE PERMANENTLY IDENTIFIED AT
THE FIRE ALARM CONTROL UNIT.
10.6.5.2.2-SYSTEM SYSTEMS THE CIRCUIT DISCONNECTING
MEANS SHALL BE PERMANENTLY IDENTIFIED AS TO ITS PURPOSE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING:
1-"FIRE ALARM" FOR FIRE ALARM SYSTEMS.
10.6.5.2.3-FOR FIRE ALARM AND/OR SIGNALING SYSTEMS, THE CIRCUIT
DISCONNECTING MEANS SHALL HAVE A RED MARKING,

SEQUENCE OF OPERATION:
SMOKE DETECTOR
Activation of Smoke Detector shall initiate the following functions:
- Generate an audible signal at the Fire Alarm Control Panel
- Generate an audible signal simultaneously on all areas of
the building by means of Horns devices. Generate a visual
alarm signal simultaneously on all areas of the building by
the use of Strobe devices or combination Horn/Strobe
notification device.
- Indicate the location of the Smoke Detector by displaying
the alarmed device and its location on the FACP.
- Transmits a Fire Alarm Signal to the designated E.T.L. Listed
Central Station.
HEAT DETECTOR
Activation of Heat Detector shall initiate the following functions:
- Generate an audible signal at the Fire Alarm Control Panel
- Generate an audible signal simultaneously on all areas of
the building by means of Horns devices. Generate a visual
alarm signal simultaneously on all areas of the building by
the use of Strobe devices or combination Horn/Strobe
notification device.
- Indicate the location of the Heat Detector by displaying
the alarmed device and its location on the FACP.
- Transmits a Fire Alarm Signal to the designated E.T.L. Listed
Central Station.
MANUAL FIRE ALARM PULL STATION
Activation of Pull Station shall initiate the following functions:
- Generate an audible signal at the Fire Alarm Control Panel
- Generate an audible signal simultaneously on all areas of
the building by means of Horns devices. Generate a visual
alarm signal simultaneously on all areas of the building by
the use of Strobe devices or combination Horn/Strobe
notification device.
- Indicate the location of the Pull Station by displaying
the alarmed device and its location on the FACP.
- Transmits a Fire Alarm Signal to the designated E.T.L. Listed
Central Station.
DUCT DETECTOR
Activation of Duct Detector shall initiate the following functions:
- Generate an audible supervisory signal at the FACP and at the
Remote Annunciator Panel.
- Indicate the location of the Duct Detector by displaying
the troubled device and its location on the FACP and the on
Remote Annunciator Panel.
- Transmits a Supervisory Signal to the designated E.T.L. Listed
Central Station.
AHU SHUTDOWN.
- Duct detectors shall automatically stop their respective air handler
unit on detecting the presence of smoke.
FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM (KITCHEN HOOD)
Activation of Fire Suppression System shall initiate the following
functions:
- Generate an audible signal at the Fire Alarm Control Panel
- Generate an audible signal simultaneously on all areas of
the building by means of Horns devices. Generate a visual
alarm signal simultaneously on all areas of the building by
the use of Strobe devices or combination Horn/Strobe
notification device.
- Indicate the location of the Fire Suppression System by displaying
the alarmed device and its location on the FACP.
- Transmits a Fire Alarm Signal to the designated E.T.L. Listed
Central Station.
TROUBLE
- Indicate the location of trouble signal at the FACP.
- Generate an audible signal at the FACP.
- Transmits a Trouble Signal to the designated E.T.L. Listed
Central Station.
DIGITAL ALARM COMMUNICATION TRANSMITTER (DACT)
26.6.3.2.1.5 DACT Transmission Means. The following
requirements shall apply to all digital alarm communications
transmitters:
(1) A DACT shall be connected to two separate means of
transmission at the protected premises.
(2) The DACT shall be capable of selecting the operable
means of transmission in the event of failure of the other
means.
(3) The primary means of transmission shall be a telephone
line (number) connected to the public switched network.
(4)*The first transmission attempt shall utilize the primary
means of transmission.
(5) Each DACT shall be programmed to call a second receiver
the signal transmission sequence to the first called line (number)
is unsuccessful.
(6) Each DACT shall automatically initiate and complete a
test signal transmission sequence to its associated receiver
at least once every 6 hours. A successful signal transmission
sequence of any other type, within the same 6-hour period,
shall fulfill the requirement to verify the integrity of the of
the reporting system, provided that signal processing is
automated so that 6-hour delinquencies are individually
acknowledged by supervising station personnel.
(7)*If a DACT is programmed to call a telephone line (number)
that is call forwarded to the line (number) of the Digital Alarm
Communicator Receiver (DACR), a means shall be implemented
to verify the integrity of the call forwarding feature every 4 hours.

Section A -A
1.Wall Assembly -- 'The 1 or 2 hr fire -rated gypsum wallboard/stud wall assembly shall be
constructed of the materials and in the manner specified in the individual U400 or V400
Series Wall and Partition Design in the UL Fire Resistance Directory and shall incorporate
the following construction features:
A. Steel Studs - "C-H" or "C-T" shaped studs, min 2-1/2 in (64 mm) wide by 1-1/2 in
(38 mm) deep, fabricated from min No. 25 gauge (0.6 mm thick) galv steel,
spaced max 24 in (610 mm) OC.
B. Gypsum Board* - 1 in. (25 mm) thick, 24 in. (610 mm) wide gypsum liner panels installed
vertically. Max. diam of circular cutout in gypsum liner panel is 10 in.(254mm)
C. Gypsum Board* - 1/2 in. or 5/8 in. (13 or 16 mm) thick, 48 in. (1.2 m) wide gypsum
boards. The gypsum board type, thickness, number of layers, fastener type
and sheet orientation shall be as specified in the individual Wall and Partition
Design. Max diam of circular cutout in gypsum board is 10 in.(254mm).
The hourly F Rating of the firestop system is equal to the hourly fire rating of the wall assembly
in which is installed.
2.Through-Penetrants -- One metallic pipe, conduit or tubing to be installed either concentrically
or eccentrically within the firestop system. The annular space between pipe, conduit or tubing
and periphery of opening shall be minimum 0 in. (0 mm, point contact) to max 2 in. (51 mm).
Pipe, conduit or tubing to be rigidly supported on both sides of wall assembly. The following
types and sizes of metallic pipes, conduits or tubing may be used:
A. Steel Pipe - Nom 8 in (203 mm) diam (or smaller) Schedule 10 (or heavier) steel pipe
B. Iron Pipe - Nom 8 in. (203 mm) diam (or smaller) service weight (or heavier) cast iron
soil pipe, nom 8 in. (203 mm) diam (or smaller) or Class 50 (or heavier)
ductile iron pressure pipe.
C. Conduit - Nom 6 in diam (152 mm) diam (or smaller) steel conduit or nom 4 in.
(102 mm) diam (or smaller) steel electrical metallic tubing.
D. Copper Tubing - Nom 6 in. (152 mm)diam (or smaller) Type L (or heavier) copper tubing
E. Copper Pipe - Nom 6 in. (152 mm) diam (or smaller) Regular (or heavier) copper pipe
