THE FOLLOWING IS AN OUTLINE OF THE MINIMUM DESIGN PARAMETERS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DESSGN OF THE WATER- BASED FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM ON THIS PROJECT.
THE OUTLINE OF THESE PARAMETERS FOLLOWS THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AS PROVIDED IN THE FLORIDA ADMINSTRATIVE CODE, CHAPTER 611315-32
61G15-32.003 COMMON REQUIREMENTS TO ALL FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM ENGINEERING DOCUMENTS
32.003(1) THIS FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEERING DOCUMENT PROVIDES THE ENGINEERING REQUIREMENTS TO BE USED IN THE PREPARATION OF THE FIRE PROTECTION
SYSTEM LAYOUT DOCUMENTS FOR THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS:
a. WET -PIPE FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM INSTALLATION.
32.003(2) THE ACCEPTANCE TESTING OF THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM AND COMPONETS SHALL BE PREFORMED BY THE INSTALLING CONTRACTOR IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN NFPA 13, 2016 EDITION, CHAPTERS 10 AND 20. THE APPROPRIATE CONTACTOR'S MATERIAL AND TEST CERTIFICATE(S)
SHALL BE COMPLETED AND SIGNED
NFPA 13, 2016 EDITION, SECTION 24.1(3) & FIGURE 24.1 "CONTRACTOR'S MATERIAL AND TEST CERTIFICATE FOR ABOVEGROUND PIPING-
NFPA 13, 2016 EDITION, SECTION 10.10.1(3) & FIGURE 10.10.1 'CONTRACTOR'S MATERIAL AND TEST CERTIFICATE FOR UNDERGOUND PIPING'
ALL PIPING AND ATTACHED APPURTENACES SBUJECTED TO SYSTEM WORKING PRESSURE SHALL BE HYDROSTATICALLY TESTED AT 200 PSI AND SHALL MAINTAIN
THAT PRESSURE WITHOUT LOSS FOR 2 HOURS.
32.003(3) SEE 32.004(2)(C) AND 32.004(2)(D) FOR OCCUPANCY DESIGN CRITERIA.
32.003(4) SEE 32.004(2)(C) AND 32.004(2)(B) FOR ACCEPTABLE STANDARDS.
32.003(5) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR THIS PROJECT MAY CONTRIBUTE 3 POUNDS PER SQUARE FOOT TO THE DEAD LOAD OF THIS BUILDING'S STRUCTUAL
SUPPORT SYSTEM. IT IS THE CONTENTION OF THE ENGINEER OF RECORD FOR THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM THAT THE BUILDING WILL ADEQUATELY SUPPORT
THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM. THIS IS TO BE CONFIRMED WITH THE STRUCTUAL ENGINEER.

32.004(2)(A) THE POINT -OF -SERVICE FOR THIS BUILDING'S FIRE PROTECTION WATER SUPPLY, AS DEFINED BY 366.021(18) F.S., IS AT THE CONNECTION TO THE EXISTING
WATER MAIN WHERE THE MUNICIPAL WATER SUPPLY BECOMES DEDICATED TO THE FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE FOR THIS BUILDING. SEE CIVIL PLANS FOR
POINT -OF -SERVICE LOCATIONS.

32.004(2)(D) THE APPLICABLE STANDARDS TO BE APPLIED IN THE DESIGN OF THIS PROJECT ARE:
RESIDENTIAL DWELLING UNITS:
WET PIPE SYSTEM, 0.10 GPM/FT2,155*F, SPACING PER MANUFACTURES LISTING. THE BASE DESIGN AREA FOR THIS AREA SHALL BE THE AREA THAT INCLUDES
THE FOUR ADJACENT SPRINKLERS THAT PRODUCE THE GREATEST HYDRAULIC DEMAND.
LIGHT HAZARD OCCUPANCIES:
WET PIPE SYSTEM, 0.10 GPWF F, 155"F, 225 FTz MAX SPACING - FOR STANDARD COVERAGE SPRINKLERS ONLY. EXTENDED COVERAGE SPRINKLERS SHALL BE
PERMITTED WHEN VERIFIED WITH THE HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS, AND WHEN THE HEAD UL LISTING IS APPLICABLE TO THE TYPE OF CONSTRUCTION. THE BASE
DESIGN AREA FOR THIS HAZARD IS 1,500 SQ. FT., HOWEVER, A REDUCTION IN THE DESIGN AREA, IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 13, SECTION 11.2.3.2.3 SHALL BE
PERMITTED.
ORINARY HAZARD OCCUPANCIES (GROUP 1):
WET PIPE SYSTEM, 0.15 GPM/FT2, 155*F, 130 FTZ MAX SPACING - FOR STANDARD COVERAGE SPRINKLERS ONLY. INTERMEDIATE TEMPERATURE SPRINKLERS SHALL BE USED
IN UNCONDITIONED SPACE OR WHEN SPRINKLERS ARE INSTALLED WITHIN 12" OF A DECK. THE BASE DESIGN ARE FORTHIS HAZARD IS 1,500 SQ.FT., HOWEVER

STANDPIPES
WET MANUAL CLASS 1 STANDPIPES. STANDPIPES SHALL HAVE 2-1/2" HOSE VALVES AND SHALL BE HYDRAULICALLY CALCULATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 14-2013.
32.004(2)(E)(F) SEE CIVIL PLAN FOR WATER SUPPLY SPECIFICS.
32.004(2)(G) VALVES AND ALARMS SPECIFIC TO THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM USED ON THIS PROJECT SHALL BE U.L. LISTED & FM APPROVED FOR FIRE PROTECTION
SERVICE. ALL VALVES CONTROLLING CONNECTIONS TO WATER SUPPLIES AND TO SUPPLY PIPES TO SPRINKLERS, INCLUDING BACKFLOW PREVENTION
ASSEMBLIES, SHALL BE LISTED INDICATING VALVES AND PROVIDED WITH TAMPER SWITCHES WITH CONNECTIONS TO LOCACL AUDIBLE ALARMS AND OFF SITE
MONITORING.
32.004(2)(H) CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFIRM WITH WATER PURVEYOR MICROBIAL INDUCED CORROSION (MIC) IS NOT KNOWN TO BE PRESENT IN THE WATER SUPPLY.
32.004(2)(1) SEE CIVIL PLANS FOR APPLICABLE BACKFLOW PREVENTION REQUIREMENTS, INCLUDING ANTICIPATED PRESSURE LOSS.
32.004(2)(J) ALL YARD AND INTERIOR FIRE PROTECTION COMPONETS SHALL BE U.L. LISTED & FM APPROVED FOR FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE AND/OR STATED PURPOSE.
32.004(2)(K)(L)(M)NO STORAGE TANK, NO FIRE PUMP, NOT A STORAGE FACILITY.
GENERAL NOTES
1. THIS MODIFICATION TO AN EXISTING WET PIPE FIRE SPRINKLER INSTALLATION SHALL COMPLY
WITH NFPA 13 2016, FLORIDA BUILDING CODE 2020 7TH EDITION, FLORIDA FIRE PREVENTION
CODE 2020 7TH EDITION AND THE LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVING JURISDICTION.
2. ALL REQUIRED MATERIALS TO BE LISTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 13-2016.
3. ALL THREADED PIPING SHALL BE SCHEDULE 40 WITH DUCTILE OR CAST IRON SCREW FITTINGS.
ALL GROOVED PIPING SHALL BE SCHEDULE 10 WITH WELDED OUTLETS AND GROOVED FITTINGS.
4. HANGERS SHALL BE ALL THREAD ROD (?" FOR 1" - 4" PIPE AND %" FOR 6"- 8" PIPE), TOP BEAM
CLAMPS, AND SWIVEL HANGERS UNLESS NOTED. SPACING AND LOCATIONS SHALL COMPLY WITH
NFPA 13-2013.
5. "CL" = DISTANCE TO CENTER LINE OF PIPE.
6. 'TS" = PIPE DISTANCE BELOW TOP OF STEEL.
7. "FF' = PIPE DISTANCE ABOVE FINISHED FLOOR.
8. ALL PIPING SHALL BE HYDROSTATICALLY TESTED AT 200 PSI FOR 2 HOURS AND WITNESSED BY
INSPECTOR.
9. WORK SHALL BEGIN AT NEW TEE CUT INTO EXISTING 6" RISER FOR EXISTING SPACE.
10. FIRE SPRINKLERS IN TILE CEILING SHALL BE CENTER OF TILE.
11. ALL PENETRATIONS THOUGH FIRE RATED WALLS SHALL BE PROTECTED WITH FIRE -STOP AND
SHALL MATCH THE RATING OF THE SEPARATION.
12. A SPARE SPRINKLER CABINET SHALL BE INSTALLED AND WILL INCLUDE SPARE SPRINKLERS
(MINIMUM OF 2) AND WRENCHES OF ALL SPRINKLER TYPES USED ON THIS PROJECT.
