The modules are connected into 17 ENPHASE: IQ8PLUS-72-2-US Microinverters with a combined rated AC output power of 4,93OW . The inverter has electronic maximum power point tracking to maximize energy captured by the PV modules. The inverter also has an internal ground fault detection and interruption device that is set to disconnect the array in the event that a ground fault that exceeds one ampere should occur. The inverter has DC and AC disconnect integrated system and labels are provided as required by the National Electrical Code. When the sun is shining, power from the PV array is fed into the inverter, where it is converted from DC to AC. The inverter output is then used to contribute to the power requirements of the occupancy. If PV power meets the requirements of the loads of the occupancy, any remaining PV power is sold back to the utility. When utility power is available, but PV power is not available, building loads are supplied by the utility. When operating in stand-alone mode during a utility grid outage the Powerwall will energize the breaker to supply backed up loads. Is rapid shutdown required for the Powerwall(s) or backup loads? No. Rapid shutdown functionality as required in 690.12 of the NEC applies to specific controlled conductors in a PV system. The means for disconnecting the conductors of an energy storage system are described elsewhere in the code. System Operation The system continually measures home power consumption and reacts to home loads. For example: • When the home load is higher than available PV power, the home draws energy from battery storage (when available) and the grid. • When the home load drops below available PV power, excess PV energy is stored in the battery until the home load exceeds PV power. • Once the battery is fully charged, any excess PV generation is either curtailed or exported to the grid, depending on local utility interconnection rules. �1=1�113ii Powerwall's interaction with the grid is primarily handled by the Backup Gateway as described above.
