THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM SHALL GENERATE A GENERAL EVACUATION SIGNAL UPON FIRE ALARM ACTIVATION. C. SECONDARY POWER SHALL CONSIST OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES HAVING A CAPACITY TO POWER THE ALARM SYSTEM FOR A PERIOD OF 24 HOURS IN A STANDBY MODE AND OPERATE ALL NOTIFICATION APPLIANCES FOR 5 MINUTES AT THE END OF THE 24 HOUR PERIOD. D. THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM HAS BEEN DESIGNED WITH A CLASS "B" SIGNALING LINE CIRCUIT (SLC). THE NOTIFICATION ALARM CIRCUITS (NAC) AND INTIATING DEVICE CIRCUITS (IDC) HAVE BEEN DESIGNED FOR CLASS "B" OPERATION. THE CONTROL CIRCUITS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED FOR CLASS "D" OPERATION. THE SLC, IDC AND NAC CIRCUITS SHALL BE POWER LIMITED. E. SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED PRIOR TO THE SYSTEM PROGRAMMING AND TEST PERIOD. IF CONSTRUCTION IS ONGOING DURING THIS PERIOD, MEASURES SHALL BE TAKEN TO PROTECT THE SMOKE DETECTOR FROM CONTAMINATION AND PHYSICAL DAMAGE UNTIL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES ARE COMPLETE. FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL PRIMARY POWER WIRING SHALL BE 12 AWG. THE CONTROL PANEL CABINET SHALL BE GROUNDED SECURELY TO EITHER A CONDUIT, COLD WATER PIPE, OR GROUNDING ROD. A 120 VOLT SURGE SUPPRESSER SHALL BE INSTALLED ON THE AC POWER AND GROUNDED PRIOR TO ENTERING THE FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL. THE BREAKER FOR THE ALARM CIRCUIT SHALL BE RED IN COLOR OR PAINTED RED AND SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH A LOCKING TAB INSTALLED TO PREVENT SHUTTING OFF THE BREAKER. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. INSTALLATION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE NEC, NFPA 72 LOCAL AND STATE CODES, AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS, AND AS RECOMMENDED BY THE MAJOR EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER. 3.02 FINAL INSPECTION A. AT THE FINAL INSPECTION A FACTORY TRAINED REPRESENTATIVE OF THE INSTALLER SHALL DEMONSTRATE THAT THE SYSTEMS FUNCTION PROPERLY IN EVERY RESPECT AND PROVIDE FULL TRAINING. ALL TESTING RE UIRED BY THE AHJ AND NFPA 72 SHALL BE COM Q PLETED IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LOCAL FIRE AUTHORITY, AS REQUIRED. 3.03 WARRANTY A. THE FIRE ALARM CONTRACTOR SHALL WARRANT ITS WORK TO BE FREE FROM DEFECTS IN MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR FROM FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF ALL WORK.THE FIRE ALARM CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL MANUALS TO OWNER. 3.04 IMPAIRMENTS A. BEFORE SHUTTING OFF A SECTION OF THE FIRE ALARM SYSTEM TO MAKE SYSTEM CONNECTIONS, NOTIFY THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION, PLAN THE WORK CAREFULLY, AND ASSEMBLE ALL MATERIALS TO MINIMIZE DOWN TIME. 3.05 MAINTENANCE A. THE SYSTEM SHALL BE MAINTAINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS PER NFPA 72:14.5. 3.06 DOCUMENTATION A. THE FIRE ALARM CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION CABINET PER NFPA 72:7.7.2. FIRE ALARM CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE RECORD DRAWINGS AND SYSTEM RECORD OF COMPLETION PER NFPA 72:7.5 THAT SHALL BE STORED IN DOCUMENTATION CABINET.
