HOW ClAIM WII.L BE HANDlED: Within a reasonable period of time from
receipt of the claim, copy of waaano/ card and proof of purchase, ElK will review
your letter and may ask for samples of the ShinaJes and photographs showing the
emnt of the probIan. The Owner iI responsible for providing these, and any other
materials reasonably ~ted. at the Owner's expense. The Owner must allow
reasonable time for investigation, including roof top inspection by an ELK employee

("Owner') that the Prestique shingles described below ("Shingles'): (1) are &ee
from manufacn.uing defects that would adversely affect the performance of the
Shingles; (2) 'Mil be resistant to blow-offs in wind velocities up to 60 miles per
hour durinll the first five (5) years after installation, provided the thermal sealant
has properly activated (SEE TI-IE DETAILS IN THE SEPARATE UMITF.D WIND
WARRANTY SET FOR1H BELOW); and (3) when manufactured with Stain-
Guard~ a-eannent, 'Mil retard the growth of most al.Itae and fungus which
adversely affect the appearance of roofs for the first five (5) years after installa-
tion. This Umited Warran"Cf commences at the completion of the installation of
the Shingles and continues for the warrano/ period described below.
The useful life of a given Shingle may be ~ by many factors including: the
weather conditions to which it is exposed; the qualio/ of its installation; the type

workmanship which affect performance, ELK shall either: (1) pay the reasonable
replacement cost of shingles and application labor, prorated as set forth below;
or (2) provide replacement shingles only or pay the reasonable cost for
replacem~t s~es of a similar design; or (3) pay the reasonable cost for repair
of the Shingles. The decision on which remedy is used shall be at the sole
discretion of EIJ<. After the first year, the replacement cost which ELK will pay
'Mil be reduced by the amowlt of usage you have received from your Shingles.
ELK will therefore pay you a percentage of the reasonable replacement cost,
described above, which will be calculated by dividing the number of months
remaining in the warran"Cf per!od by the number of months in the original
warrano/ period. In the unlikeJy event the entire roof is found to be ddective,
ELK shall provide, or pay the reasonable replacement cost of. shingles and
reasonable application labor to re-cover the roof. Any payment made by ELK
shall be reduced by prorating as specified above for each month of the Owner's
use of the S~. ELI<. wherever possible, shall replace Shingles with shingles
of the same colOr and design. However, since color variations exist between
shingles manufactured at different times and since ELK may discontinue or

This warranty is provided by Du Pont to enable consumers to protect their investment in
DuPont Certified STAINMASTER* Carpel
General Conditions of this Warranty
· Only first quality carpet (not seconds or irregulars) can earn the name Du Pont Certified
STAINMASTER Carpet and be warranted.
. Warranty does not apply to rugs.
· Warranty applies only to owner-occupied residences for carpet purchased after
Sept. 1, 1986.
· Warranty excludes carpet which has been put to commercial use, abnormal use or
conditions, or abused in any way.
· Any repair or replacement under this warranty will be made by Du Pont at no cost to the
consumer and will be limited to the affected area of the carpet. If the identical carpet is
not available, Du Pont will provide carpet of comparable quality and color.

Full Five-Year Wear Warranty
Du Pont warrants. for a full five years after installation in an owner-occupied residence,
that the surtace pile of Du Pont Certified ST AINMASTER Carpet will not wear by more than
10% in any area except stairs. Du Pont will repair, or replace if repair cannot be made. any
area of the carpet that does not pertorm as warranted.
This warranty covers only abrasive wear resulting in loss of fiber from the pile
surtace. Wear or damage from tears, pulls, cuts, pilling, shedding, matting, crushing, bums.
pets, improper cleaning, improper installation or defective carpet construction is
specifically excluded.
Ufetime Anti-Static Warranty
Du Pont warrants, for the life of the carpet in an owner-occupied residence, that Du Pont
Certified STAINMASTER Carpet will not generate static greater than 5.0 kilovoltst. Most
people are unaffected by static of that degree. Du Pont will repair. or replace if repair cannot
be made, any area of the carpet that does not pertorm as warranted. tUsing AATCC Test 134-79
Full Five-Year Stain Resistance Warranty
Du Pont warrants. for a full five years after installation in an owner-occupied residence,
that the surtace pile of Du Pont Certified ST AINMASTER Carpet will resist stains by foods
and beverages (except as noted below) and resist stains by urine and feces (including pet's).
Du Pont will repair, or replace if repair cannot be made, any area of the carpet that does not
pertorm as warranted.
No carpet is fully stainproof. Therefore, this warranty excludes stains from:
1- All substances otller tllan foods, beverages, urine and leces: 2 - Vomit; 3- Such foods and
beverages that contain strongly colored natural disperse dyes as found, for example, in
some brands of mustard and herbal tea. While STAINMASTER carpet is constructed with the
finest soil-resistant materials. this warranty covers stains only and not soiling.
Note that there can be some slight loss of stain resistance in high traffic areas such as
stairs. This warranty excludes any residual stains that may occur in those areas.
Most topical treatments (including many fungicides, bactericides, biocides, anti-statics,
and stain-resists, etc) can adversely affect the locked-in stain resistance and/or other
benefits of STAIN MASTER carpet. This warranty excludes any claim or liability for defects or
damages to ST AINMASTER carpet caused by such topical treatments. However, topical soil-
resistant fluorochemicals which do not adversely affect the carpet are acceptable and
recommended after professional cleaning.
This warra~ty is also voided if Du Pont-recommended care and cleaning instructions are
not followed. Instructions are found in the Du Pont "Clean-up of Food & Beverage Spills" card
and in the Du Pont "Complete Book of Carpeting".

· Lumber as needed for frame and ceiling reinforcement
· 1/4" or 318" plywood shims, and braces, same
dimensions as joists
· Assistant
Notice:
A} Failure to follow instructions and safety precautions as
stated in this instruction sheet can result in serious
damage and injuries.
B) Make sure you have purchased the right size Folding
Stairway by measuring the ceiling height and unit width.
C} Consult a qualified professional if in doubt while you are
working on the ceiling.
D) Installation of this unit will require two people.
E} Do not stand under or use this unit during installation.
F) Carefully read SAFETY and CAUTION labels and follow
them prior to installation and every time unit is used.
G) Springs are under tension. Extreme care should be taken
in their adjustment.
Steps:
1. Select an area with sufficient landing space and
headroom as you climb into attic area. See FIGURE 1.
2. Inspect ceiling for plumbing, electrical wiring or any
other work that might be disturbed by cutting into
ceiling. (Consult a qualified professional if in doubt.)
3. Using dimensions from TABLE 1, below, for rough open-
ing cut into ceiling and create a frame using same size
lumber as ceiling joists. The frame should be secured to
the joists using 1&1 common nails and if possible steel
corner bracing. Should the spacing of the joists be
smaller than unit width, cut out a portion of the joist and
create the frame as shown in FIGURE 2.
4. Nail 1X4 temporary slats across the bo~om of rough
opening creating a 314" ledge on each side. See
FIGURE 3.
