Job #1280 Dear Steve: This letter is to inform you that I recently visited the above stated project to inspect some wall penetrations in the block firewall, anchor bolt installation on gable & firewall walls and scissor truss to gable truss connections. The first item is the firewall penetrations; there are some plumbing vent pipes in the firewall cavities. All of the block cavities with the vent pipes have been poured solid with 2500 psi concrete which in my opinion is acceptable. Next, some of the anchor bolts placed in the top of the block gable and firewalls were installed too deep into the poured top course, this caused the carpenter to install some nuts recessed into the bolted top plate. This is structurally acceptable as installed. Lastly, portions of the gable end wall trusses were installed with 2-16d nails through nailed into the ends of the scissor trusses above the kitchen/breakfast nook area. The scissor trusses have been properly anchored to the block wall with hurricane straps and the gable truss connection is structurally adequate.
