4.0 DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Contractor shall provide all materials, labor, tools and equipment
needed to expand the existing rear concrete loading dock with a pressure treated wood deck. The
work shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
4.1 WOOD DECK - Contractor shall construct a P. T.. wood deck attached to the existing concrete
dock in rear of building. When completed, the new wood deck surface shall be level to the
existing finished height of concrete dock. See attached drawings.
MATERIALS:
All wood shall be PT AOcca #2 SYP, or equal.
All screws, nails, fasteners, joist hangers, plates shall be corrosive resistant, hot dipped galvanized.
Lags - 1/4"x 3" min.
Concrete - 2500psi
FRAMING
Ledger boards - 2 x 8"
Deckjoists - 2 x 8"
Posts - 4 x 4"
DECKING
Deck boards - 2 x 6"
Screws - 2 1/2" galv. flat head stingers.
INSTALLATION: Wood deck shall be constructed level and plumb, in accordance with standard
building practices.
1.. Set ledgers/deck joists 1 1/2" below finished level of existing concrete dock.
2. Joists shall be secured in joist hangers.
3. Bury posts 24" below top of grade; place posts in center of 12" diameter hole and fill with
concrete to the surface. Crown concrete to insure water does not pond around posts.. Secure
posts through joists with 3/8" bolts with nuts/washers (2 ea!post). Cut offposts flush with top of
joists.
4. Wood decking shall be screwed down to joists using deck screws, three per board. Upon
completion, top of wood decking shall be level with surface of existing concrete dock.

set aside any provisions of the technical codes, nor shall is~u~nce of a perlit prevent the Building Official frOl thereafter
requiring a correction of errors in plans, construction, or violations of any code. Bvery'perJit issued shall becOi8 invalid
unless the Nork authorized by such perlit is cOllenced within six IOnths of issuance, or if work authorized by the pertit is
suspended or abandoned for a period of six IOnths after the tile the work is cOIIenced. One 90 day eJtension of tile, aar be
allowed for the pertit with fee charge of $15.00. The extension shall be requested in writing to the Building OffIcial. An
approved inspection lust be logged during each six lonth period, or the project will be considered abandoned.
