November 13, 1997 .~ WOOD FIRE PROTECfION First United Methodist Church 38635 Fifth Avenue Zephyrhills, Florida 33540 Attn: Judy Mogul Re: Sanctuary Fire Alarm System Dear Judy: We are pleased to offer the following proposal for the installation of a fire alarm system for your church sanctuary building. The equipment selected for this project will have the capability to be expanded to provide coverage of the remaining two buildings (education building and administration building) at a future date. Design of this proposed system is based on the requirements ofNFPA 72, National Fire Alarm Code and NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, Chapter 9, Existing Assembly Occupancies, Class B. This type of occupancy requires a manually operated fire alarm system that signals to a constantly attended location while the building is occupied, or automatically activates a pre-recorded message on a voice evacuation system. Other system requirements include a smoke detector at the control panel location, heat detectors in equipment and storage rooms, and duct mounted smoke detectors connected to shut down the air-handling units in the event of a fire. Our proposed system will include the following: + One UL listed fire alarm control panel with battery backup, expandable to provide coverage for all three buildings with the addition of optional modules. + One UL listed voice evacuation panel with pre-recorded message and microphone. + One remote annunciator. Location to be determined by the local fire inspector. + One manual pull station at each building exit. + One smoke detector at the control panel location. + Four heat detectors for equipment and storage rooms. + Two duct mounted smoke detectors with remote test stations and indicators. + Four visual warning strobes, one for each restroom. + Six Speaker strobes, mounted throughout the building. + All exposed wiring will be installed in EMT conduit. AIl concealed wiring will be power limited fire alarm cable. All work will be performed in accordance with applicable NFP A standards and standard industry practice. DESCRIPTION; The Silent Knight Model 5207 is an aJI-in-one fuse less local fire evacuation control panel and digital communicator designed for applications requiring manual fire alarm, automatic fire alarm and water flow for sprinkler system supervision. The basic unit offers fire alarm for one to eight zones, expandable to 16 with the optional 5210 expansion module. It is compatible with both two- and four-wire smoke detectors. Compact, easy to install and service, it delivers the features you'd expect to find in fire systems costing much more. During normal operation, the 5207 constantly checks smoke and other sensing devices for fire conditions. It also conducts system checks to determine if any troubles, or 5207 system problems, exist. If the 5207 encounters a fire or trouble condition, it sends a report to a central monitoring station (if applicable), and, typically, sounds an audible/ visual warning in the local area. The 5207'5 microprocessor constantly runs programs to check inputs and carry out other routine functions If the program ever stops running, a watchdog circuit will detect it and reset microprocessors to resume normal operations The Model 5207 conducts an automatic self-test every 24 hours-at a time you select-and sends a report to the central station (if applicable). Other features of the system include English-language remote annunciation simplifying "Step Programming" of custom options. Remote downloading of system configurations can eliminate the expense of sending out a service technician for reprogramming. System provides a built-in fire drill procedure, The exclusive AccuZone' feature measures and displays zone voltages, so you can set up and test the system without separate testing equipment. Fuse/ess circuit board design eliminates one of the most likely causes for service calls. UJneelOCf\ --.......11111 f[f.\ INC. The BG-10 Series features non-coded, dual-action operation. FEATURES Within ADA 5 lb. pull force when used without break-tube (models manufactured after 10-1-96, identified by an @ under station spring). Impact-resistant, durable LEXAN@ (or polycarbonate equivalent) housing. Back plate made of 16 gauge steel. Highly visible. Easily operated. Attractive shape with textured finish. Semi-flush or surface mounting. Operates with or without a break tube. Handle latches in down position to clearly indicate that the station has been operated. Optional lock with standard FireoUte key. Optional N.O. contact for auxiliary functions. Optional pre-signal circuit. Spanish (FUEGO) version available. APPLICATIONS The BG-10 Series manual fire alarm stations are intended for use as fire alarm initiating devices, with any fire alarm initiating circuit to be operated by a contact closure. The stations are for indoor or outdoor (BG-10WP) use and should be installed in compliance with applicable NFPA standards, local building codes, and plans and specifica- tions. INSTALLATION The BG-10 Series manual fire alarm stations mount to standard single-gang electrical boxes. A terminal block with screws allows for fast and easy wiring. OPERATION Pulling the handle down causes the BG-10 to latch in the down position and to close the normally-open switch. The handle is restored manually by unscrewing the allen-head screw so the top of the case can pivot forward, allowing the spring-loaded handle to return to its normal position. The case can then be pivoted back to its normal position and secured with the allen-head screw. The BG-10L utilizes a mechanical key instead of the allen- head screw. @~ I California ~ State Fire ~ Marshal ., 7150-0075:103 <8> OG5A5.A Y S711 CS115 ADA The BG-10P/T has a normally-open auxiliary switch which is closed by rotating a key clockwise. Heat detectors are available in 1350F and 2000F temperature ratings. Rate-of-rise elements detect heat by quickly responding to rapid temperature increase. HD-600 detectors use the same reliable pneumatic rate-of-rise element used in former models, but offer added aesthetic appeal. The pneumatic rate-of-rise element responds to a rapid rise in temperature, approximately 150F (80C) per minute, by expansion of air within the sealed chamber faster than it can escape through a calibrated vent. The result- ant increase in pressure depresses the diaphragm, causing the electrical contact to close the circuit. HD-600 rate-of-rise units have a wide spacing allowance of 50-foot centers. See Specifi- cation Table for details. Fixed-temperature elements react to heat by responding to a specific temperature setting. The fixed-temperature element uses a fusible alloy. When activated, the external heat collector drops away to provide quick visual confirmation that the element has operated. The units protrude only 1-3/8" from the ceiling surface with a junction box mounting. They have pleasing contours and an all- white finish that conforms to ceiling aesthetics. FEATURES . Rate-of-rise and fixed-temperature. · One- or two-circuit, normally open. . Easy installation. · Low-profile design. . Visual indication. . Operation testing. INSTALLATION Each detector includes a patented reversible mounting plate. In one position, it easily attaches to a 3-1/4" octagon box, In reverse, the plate can be used for open wiring without a junction box. A 1/4" space between detector and mounting surface allows for wire connections. All mounting screws are concealed. The detector attaches simply to the mounting plate with a push and twist motion. No special tools are required. The mounting plate is molded of white self-extinguishing thermo- plastic rated at 1050C. The plate is extremely strong, yet adapts to uneven mounting surfaces.
