to be licensed in aocordance with .:itate and local regulations. If the contractor is not
licensed as required by law, both the ovmer and contractor may be cited for a misdemeanor
violation under state law. If the owner- or intended contractor are uncertain i2S to Hhat
licensing requirements may apply for the intended work, they are advised to contact the
City of Zephyrhills Building DOlpartment, 813-786-6611.

is prepared by a professional engineer registered in the State of Florida pdor to penni t

A permit issued shall be construed to be a license to proceed Hith the work and not as
authority to violate, cancel, alter, or set aside any provisions of the technical codes,
nor shall issuance of a permit prevent the Building Official from thereafter requiring a
oorrection of errors in plans, construction, or violations of any code. Every permit
iSIiUed shall become invalld unless the work authorized by such permit is COllUlIenced within
six months of issuance, or if work authorized by the perm1t is suspended or abandoqed for a
peri ad of sLII months after the time the work is commenced. One 90 day extension of time
may be allowed for the permit Hith fee charge of $15.00. The extens10n shall be reque6ted
in Hriting to the BuildJng Official. An approved i.nspection must be logged during each /:dx
lIlonth period, or the project vdll be cons1dered abandoned.

Subject: Use of Simpson spl&Sp2 clips or equiv. with 15/32 cdx or osb structural
panels fastened according to SSTD 1099 section 305.6
Framed walls shall be as follows:
~ CDX or OSB continuous wood structural panels shall overlap the top member of the
dbl top plate and the pt 2x4 bottom plate.
A row of 10d nails @ 3" o.c. shall be ~" minimum from the edge of both members of the
dbl top plate and both edges of the pt bottom plate (i.e. a dbl row of 10d nails in the pt
bottom plate.)
Use 8d nails @ 6" o.c. @ vertical edges of panels and in field.
Within 4 ft of corners and wherever the structural wood panels are not continuous
(either side of door and window openings), Simpson SPl or equivalent applied per
manufacturers specifications shall be used at stud to bottom plate connections and
Simpson SP2 or equiv applied per manufacturers specifications shall be used at stud to
dbl top plate connections.
Simpson clips are not required at stud to plate connections at locations other than noted
above.
I hereby certify that the ~" structural panels fastened as noted above will provide
855lbs of uplift capacity according to SSTD 1099 table 305.6. and that this uplift
capacity meets or exceeds the requirements necessary to resist wind loads resulting from
a 110 mph windspeed (3 sec gust).
I therefore hereby certify that the framed structural walls of said building meets or
exceeds the requirements of section 1606 of the Florida Building Code 2001 edition for a
110 mph windspeed (3 sec gust).
