Addressable
Photoelectric Type
Smoke Detector
Detect smoldering fires quickly and get help fast
with IntelliKnight@ photoelectric smoke detectors.
IntelliKnight addressable photoelectric smoke detectors are the clear choice for commercial settings where
smoldering fires are a threat. In addition to accurately detecting a smoldering fire, each SD505-APS
photoelectric detector has a unique address, which is recognized by the IntelliKnight panel. No precious seconds
are wasted in determining location of an alarm.
The SD505-APS compensates automatically for contamination in the environment. And detector testing is
simple-even from a remote site. Like other IntelliKnight detector models, the SD505-APS offers a low profile for
pleasing aesthetics. The IntelliKnight family of detectors has been designed to use a common base, Model
SD505-6AB, allowing complete application and placement flexibility. Combine all this with the features you've
come to expect from Silent Knight smoke detectors-easy installation, stable operation, RF/transient protection,
and vandal-resistant locking-and it adds up to a flexible solution for all your fire protection needs.

Smoke Detector
The SD505-APS is particularly
suited to detecting dense smoke
typical of fires involving materials
such as soft furnishings, plastic,
foam or other similar materials
which tend to smolder and produce
large visible particles.
The detector features automatic
compensation for contamination
and a simple detector calibration
test procedure that can be run from
the panel or remotely (using the
Windows™ based downloading
software).
",
Operation
The SD505-APS units made up of
an LED light source and a silicon
photo diode receiving element. In a
normal standby condition, the
receiving element receives no light
from the pulsing light source. In the
event or fire, smoke enters the
detector and light is reflected from
the smoke particles to the receiving
element.
The light received is converted into
an electronic signal. Under normal
conditions, the status LED blinks
approximately every 15 seconds,
indicating that the head is
communicating with the loop. The
LED lights continuously during the
alarm period.

Addressable Heat Detector
IntelliKnight@ addressable heat detectors combine
accurate heat detection with pin-point location ID.
An essential combination for any installation.
IntelliKnight heat detectors are an essential component in virtually any IntelliKnight installation. The IntelliKnight
panel recognizes each detector by its specific address, so precious seconds are not wasted in determining
location of an alarm.

Model SDSOS-AHS ~
Addressable Heat Detector
The SD505-AHS is a heat detector
suited to virtually any commercial
setting. The SD505-AHS is an
absolute temperature device. This
means that it responds in alarm if
the temperature goes above the
trip point (programmed at the
panel).
The SD505-AHS provides accurate
temperature measurement data to
the fire alarm control panel. This
heat detector is particularly suited
to environments where smoke
~scannot be used because,
of the fiH'es:ence of steam or
cqotqiog fumes, such as in a
kitchen.
Operation
The SD505-AHS unit is made up of
an externally mounted thermistor
with a specially designed cover that
protects the thermistor while
allowing maximum air flow. The
thermistor reads the temperature
from the air it takes in. It then
transmits a signal representing the
temperature to the IntelliKnight
panel.
If the temperature exceeds the trip
point (programmed at the panel),
an alarm occurs. The status LED
lights continuously during the alarm
period.
Under normal conditions, the status
LED blinks approximately every 15
seconds, indicating that the head is
communicating with the loop.

analog/addressable duct smoke detector
The SD505-ADH analog addressable duct smoke detector detects smoke and products of combustion present in
air moving through an HV AC duct to prevent re-circulation of smoke into the air handling system. The SD505-
ADH is a heavy duty metal housing with a pre-installed detector base. When smoke is detected in a duct, the
unit communicates the condition to the IntelliKnight control panel. The panel, in turn, depending on
programming, turns off fans, blowers, and other devices.
The SD505-ADH is designed to be used with Silent Knight's SD505-APS Photoelectric Smoke Detector and

Description
The MR Series of multi-voltage control
relays offer SPOT or OPOT 10 amp con-
tacts which may be operated by one of
four input control voltages. A single relay
may be energized from a voltage source
of 24 VDC, 24 VAC, 115 VAC or 230 VAC
by wiring to appropriate input terminals.
Each relay position contains a red LED
which indicates that the relay coil is ener-
gized. The relays are available in a 4
module assembly and may be snapped
. apart and used independently.

DESCRIPTION
STI borrowed from that master builder of nature--
the spider--to create a web of protection from van-
dalism and damage for smoke detectors. The
importance of these devices are too great to risk
malfunction from damage--whether accidental or
intentional. If such damage is prevalent, the STI
Steel Web Stoppers for Smoke Detectors are a
simple, tough, low-cost, easy-to-install solution.
They are especially appropriate for areas where
physical abuse to detectors are great, such as cor-
rectional facilities and public buildings in high-
crime districts. Their strong, durable, web-like
design and construction of 9 gauge steel wire per-
mit the Stoppers to take tough knocks in stride. If
your smoke detectors are being put out of service
because of damage or tampering, Steel Web
Stoppers for Smoke Detectors may be your only
answer.

· Easy installation and easy removal for servic-
ing detectors.
· Aesthetically appealing.
· Construction of 9 gauge steel wire in web-like,
octagon shape is extremely difficult to break.
· Generically listed for any UL listed detector.
· Can be spray painted prior to installation once
without affecting UL listing.
· Tamper resistant screws and bit available.

PRINTED IN U.S.A
A damaged smoke detector could make an
entire fire alarm system inoperable and
negate the early warning response for
which it was intended. To maintain critical
credibility, it may be necessary to install a
physical guard to prevent damage by acci-
dent or vandalism. STl's Steel Web
Stoppers for Smoke Detectors do exactly
that.
NOTE: These devices should only be used
in areas where abuse of smoke detectors
is causing false fire alarms or high mainte-
nance costs.
· Web-like design that copies the master
builder of nature--the spider.
· Heavy-duty steel construction to take
tough knocks in stride.
· Two models that fit virtually all smoke
detectors
· L.E.D. indicator remains visible.
· Easy installation and easy removal for
servicing detectors.
· Aesthetically appealing.
· Tamperproof screws available.
· Can be spray painted prior to installa-
tion once without affecting UL listing.
· Generically listed for ANY UL listed
detector.
· State of California Listed.

INSTALLATION
Two types of mounting are available.
Flush-mounted means the smoke detector
is mounted directly on the ceiling.
Surface-mounted means the detector is
mounted on an electrical box away from
the ceiling or other surface. Tamper proof
screws and bit available.
FLUSH-MOUNTED
1. Center Steel Web Stopper around detec-
tor.
2. Mark four holes for screws.
3. Drill the four holes.
4. Install Stopper over detector with four
screws and clips provided.
SURFACE-MOUNTED
1. Center spacer (Part No. STI 8101) over
smoke detector and conduit.
2. Mark four holes for screws.
3. Drill the four holes.
4. Install Stopper over detector using
screws and stand-off spacer (Part
#8110).
TO SERVICE DETECTOR
Loosen three screws and swing Stopper
away.
Tamper proof screws (STI
8102 - 2" & STI 8104 - 4")
