Area configurations
Area programming offers a wide selection of different system
configurations. Each area has an account number to define
annunciation, control, and reporting functions, Multiple areas can
be linked to a shared area which is automatically controlled
(hallway or lobby). Area arming can be conditional on other areas
(master/associate).
Security you can rely on
BOSCH
U~erpassCodes
Each passcode individually programs with three to six digits in
length and no fixed digits. Each user is assigned one of fourteen
customized authority levels in each area. You can program
passcodes to operate only during certain times. Each user can
have a 16-character custom name. You can view, print, and report
the user's name to a central station in Modem IIIa2
Communications format; you can retrieve a user's name with
Remote Account Manager (RAM IV) software.
Security and fire detection
The D9412G Control Panel provides eight on-board detection
points, and up to 238 additional off-board points (depending on
model and expansion interfaces). You can program individual
points to monitor devices such as burglar alarm devices, fire alarm
devices, and supervision devices.
Event log storage, viewing and printing
All local and transmitted events (up to 1000 total events) are
stored in a log. The event log includes time, date and event, with
area, point and user number. Users can view the event log from
Alpha Command Centers. The Remote Account Manager (RAM
IV) software can retrieve events from remote sites. With the
correct printer interface module installed, the D9412G Control
Panel can use up to three on-site parallel printers. The Event Log
and a local printer can provide a record of openings and closings
without extra communications costs. RAM IV operators can
retrieve events periodically using one phone call, rather than
receiving several calls each day. When the control panel's event
log reaches the storage limit, it can send a report to a receiver.
This report reminds the central station to retrieve events from the
control panel's event log.
You can store, view, or print access events such as:
. Access granted
. No entry
. Request To Enter
. Request To Exit
Access Control
. Custom door strike, point shunt and auto disarming response by
area
. Logging options for: Access Granted, No Entry, Request to Exit,
and Request to Enter
. Fourteen panel-wide access levels with both manual and
scheduled control
Scheduled events (Skeds)
The D9412G Control Panel's' internal clock and calendar help the
panel(s) operate individually scheduled events (Skeds). Skeds
perform a specific function such as arm/disarm, relay control, or
point bypassing. The D9412G Control Panel offers:
. 64 scheduled events with up to 26 different functions
. Day-of-week or date-of-year schedules
. Four holiday schedules of 366 days each (leap year)
Fire test
When a user activates Fire Test Mode, the control panel
suppresses reports to the central station. Fire Test Mode activates
with a passcode at the command center. All testing data is visible
on the command center and annunciator during testing, An
automatic sensor reset feature saves you time; you do not need to
reset the sensors manually. At the end of test, the command
center shows the number of untested points,
Programming, diagnostics and controls
Users can program all system functions on-site through a D5200
Programmer, or remotely through Remote Account Manager (RAM
IV) software. A programmable system passcode prevents
unauthorized remote programming.
The control panel accommodates up to four separate telephone
numbers for primary, alternate and backup receivers for automatic
test reports.
A name and number identifies any user who resets alarms or any
user who arms or disarms a system.

Planning
If the module is installed in a separate enclosure, it can be placed
up to 200 ft. (61 m) from the control/communicator. The module
can be wired to the control/communicator using the module's
terminal strip or using Molex connectors, The Molex connectors
are useful when multiple 081280 modules are in use. The
terminal strip is easier to use in cases when the module is
connected directly to the control/communicator.
Each module uses 51 mA (worst case), which can affect the
number of units that can be connected on a single wire run. Apply
the wiring considerations provided in Technical Specifications.

visible from up to 50 ft. (15 m). The handle is reset by
opening the station with the key, placing the handle in
the normal upright position and re-Iocking the station.
On the action models, the push bar rotates inward
allowing the Pull handle to be grasped in a one
handed motion.

Configurethedetectorsintotwo-wireorfour-wire~s by
selecting the appropriate DlOlDltmg base. These detectors are
compatible with any of the F220-B6 bases:
. F220-B6 Two-Wll"e Mounting Base
. F220-B6R Standard Four- Wue Mounting Base
. F220-B6C Four- Wue Mounting Base with Auxiliary
Relay
. F22O-B6E Power Supervision Mounting Base
The F220 photoeIecIric smoke detectors
are UL Listed, open-area photoeleclric
smoke detectors designed for use with
commercial fire protectiYe sig1aIing
systems and household fire warning
systems (see NFPA 72, the National Fire
Alarm Code). These smoke detectors
scatter IVrt umg a pulsed i1fmred
source operatW1g with a gated,
hVt-sPeed, photodiode i1fmred sensor.
The syrnmeby of the optical chamber
allows 3600 U'liform smoke entry, but
mininizes extemallVrt entry. By using
low CU'l'el'lt electronic circuitry, you can
connect the detectors to a wide range of
power source ci'cuits.
Monitoring the Detection Chamber
These detectors ~ several features that work together to
maximize the pc tou.uance of the optical chamber:
. Compensation: The detector monitors the chamber for
the effects of dust build-up within the chamber and
automatically compensates for these effects. If the
chamber becomes contaminated beyond compensation,
the green LED flashes every 4 see to indicate trouble.
. Chamber Oleck- Self-diagnostics: The detector
automatically indicates visually if the cah'bration is out
of the tactory-listed range. This meets NFPA guidelines
for sensitivity testing, because you can visually inspect
the detector and check the flash rate of the LED. If the
cahbration is out ofrange, the green LED on the detector
flashes once every 4 sec. This indicates that the detector
must be cleaned per the instructions provided with the
detector.
. OeanMe Mode: Indicates if the cahbration is out of the
factory-listed range by sending a trouble signal to the
OeanMe-companble control panel, if so programmed.
BOSCH
21 F220 Photoelectric Smoke Detectors
. Chamber MaicJIM: The detector has a unique. patent-
pending cleaning mechanism. Use the valve on the back
of the detector to insert the nozzle of a can of dean. dry
compressed air. Clean the chamber with a short (1 to 2
see) blast of air.
. Heat and Carbon Monoxide Enhancements
The detectors areavaiJablewitb anoptionalfixed-k:Jll)'Q..:ture
heat sensor or a combination of heat and CO sensors. These
optional sensors enhance the operation of the smoke detector
by reducing false alarms.
. Carbon Monoxide: Without the presence of CO. a
normal byproduct of combustion, the detection
chamber is half as sensitive to smoke as a standard
commercial photoelectric smoke chamber. This reduces
false alanns. When the sensor detects CO. the detection
chamber's sensitivity to smoke increases so it equals or
exceeds that of a standard commercial photoelectric
smoke chamber.
. Heat: When the heat sensor detects a temperature rise.
the photoelectric chamber becomes more smoke
sensitive. The heat sensor initiates an alarm if the
ambient temperature exceeds + 13S0P (+S70C).
Dual-color LED
A dual-color LED indicamrflashes green every 8 see when the
detector has power and the smoke sampling circuitry is
working. If CleanMe is enabled. the green LED double &shes
(two flashes a half second apart) every 8 see to indicate normal
operation. The LED turns red if an alarm is sent. After the
alarm condition clears, reset the detector by interrupting its
power. If the chamber becomes contaminated beyond
compensation. the green LED flashes every 4 see to indicate
trouble.
Test Functions
The F220 Photoelectric Smoke Detectors feature a unique
magnet operation and sensitivity test fimction. Test the
detector's operation by placing the magnet next to the
detector's LED for three consecutive flashes. This causes the
detector to send an alarm. Placing a magnet next to the
detector's LED for at least one red flash but less than three
flashes activates the detector's sensitivity mode.
Tamper Deta:tion
When detector heads are properly installed in any of the F220-
B6 bases. tamper detection is provided by the wiring of the
positive power line. The control panel initiates a trouble signal
if a detector is removed from its base. A mechanical1amper
lock comes with each base to prevent unauthorized head
removal.

Glass Break Sensors
-.--" Magnetic sensors may not detect a break-in if the thief simply smashe~
window or a glass door. Our acoustic glass breakage detectors respond to
actual cracking of the glass the moment someone tries to break in. The ala
will sound while the thief is still outside -- not after he is already walk
around inside the home.
Note: While glass break sensors are an excellent enhancement to a
perimeter security system, they are not a substitute for magnetic dool
window sensors. The optimal design will incorporate magnetic sensors to det
opening and acoustic glass detectors to detect breakage. Where possible 1
motion detectors as a backup.
