1 ROUGH OPENING
, PREPARATION
A. Ve the opening is plumb and level.
Note It is critJcal that the bottom is level.

larg than the door in width and 1/2" larger in height, Measure the width at the top. bottom. and
cente . Measure the height at the far left side. the far right side. and in the center.
Note 1-1/2" or more of solid wood blocking is required around the perimeter of the opening.
Fix tr problems with the rough opening before proceeding.

A. Appl side flashing tape. Cut two pieces of flashing tape 4" longer than the frame height of the door, Apply
one p to each side over the nailing fin and onto the Water resistive barrier. The tape should extend 2" above

STALL THE SLIDING PANEL
TWO 0 MORE PEOPLE WILL BE REQUIRED TO HANDLE THE PANEL SAFELY.
A, Insert door panei. From the exterior of the building. tilt the top of the panel toward the door frame and
insert e top of the door panel into the top track. Move the bottom of the panel toward the door frame
until i is vertical, Gently set the panel down into the bottom track,
ProL e only: Install bumpers and the panel retainer, Follow the instructions included in the hardware box,
Note: careful not to pinch your J1ngers between the two panels. DO NOT close the s/Jding panel
until lJU have instaBed the hardware. The door may lock when closed.
B, Instal the handles and panel retainer. Follow the instructions included in the hardware box. lithe panel is not square to the door
frame, adjust the bottom rollers by removing the adjusting hole cover and inserting an 8" long #2 Phillips screwdriver into the hole,
Turn ockwise to raise the panel and counter-clockwise to lower the panel. Follow the instructions included in the handle box for

6 INT RIOR SEAL
Caution: Ens use of/ow pressure polyurethane window and door insulating foams and strictly foUow the foam manufacturers

and hinder ope. tion.
A, Appl insulating foam sealant. From the interior. insert the nozzle of the applicator approximately
1" de p into the space between the door and the rough opening and apply a 1" deep bead of foam.
This ill allow room for expansion of the foam and will minimize squeeze out. Allow the foam to
cure c mpletely (usually 8 to 24 hours) before proceedJng to the next step.
Note: 0 NOT completely no the space from the back of the On t6 the interior face of

B, Chec the door operation by opening and closing the door,
Note: the door does not operate correctly, check to make sure it is stiU plumb, level, square
and at the sides are not bowed. U arfjustmenls are required, remove the foam with a
serra knUe. Arfjust the shims, and reapply the insulating foam sealant.

A, Insert backer rod into the space around the door as deep as it will go, This should
provi at least a 1/2" clearance between the backer rod and the exterior face of the door.
Note: c1cer rod adds mape and depth for the ~a/ant /lne.
B. Apply a bead of high quality exterior grade sealant to the entire
perim ter of the door. At each end of the bottom of the door, insert
sealan into the spaces between the bottom of the door and the sill
suppo and connect it to the perimeter sealant,
plastic guards at the base of the door once construction is complete.
C, Shape tool and clean excess sealant. When finished, the sealant should be the
shape f an hourglass.
Note: method creates a more flexible sea/ant line capable of expanding
and tracting.
. 8 'I~T RIOR FINISHING
Visible wood s rfaces of Pella. products must be finished. FaihA'e to do so voids the Limited Warranty, If products cannot be finished
immediately, c vel' with clear plastic to protect from dirt, daAtage and moisture. Remove any construction residue before finishing. Sand all
wood surfaces I ghtly with 180 grit or finer sandpaper. DO NOT use steel wool. BE CAREFUL NOT TO SCRATCH THE GLASS.

Note: 10 main 'a1n proper product performance do not paint, Dnish or IY!lDOJlf! the weatber-strJpplng, gaskets or vinyl parts. Air and
water leakage result if these parts are removed. Aber DnlshJng, aUow doors to dry completely befon dosing them.
Pella Corporati n is not responsible for finishing imperfections. Use of inappropriate finishes, solvents, brickwash or cleaning chemicals will
cause adverse ctions with window and door materials and voids the Limited Warranty.
