081.29 Octo-relay Module
.,
The 08129 Octo-relay Module is suitable for applications
requiring Form C relays to operate auxiliary systems or
to display fire system status at remote annunciators_
Building components such as HVAC, door lock releases,
and stairwell pressurization can interface with the
D8129 for complete system control and monitoring.
Industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities are
typical installations for the 08129 module. The eight on-
board relays can be programmed to activate on system
alarm, system trouble, individual zone or point faults,
and through remote control by authorized users.
Functions
Output Relays
Each relay output provides a normally-open and a
normally-closed output.
Modes of Operation
A slide switch with multiple switch settings can be used
to configure the module for a specific mode of operation
for D8112 Series systems, or programming can be used
to determine relay operation for D9412GV2, D9412G,
D74l2GV2, D74l2G, D72l2GV2, and D72l2G systems.
... Programmable relay functions
... Provides eight Form C relays
.. 1 ^ at 30 VDC rel..y contact rating
.. Slide switch configuration
,.. Allows remote control of relays
.. 5cr~w terminal connections
System Over.rlew
The 08129 Octo-relay Module provides eight
programmable Form C relays. Each relay provides dry
contact switching rated for 1.0 A at 30 VDC. The relays
are accessed through on-board screw terminal
connections.
The 08129 uses information from the control panel
serial data output to activate the relays. On-board
switches are used to configure the 08129 for different
operating modes, or to specify relay output numbers_
These switches, along with control panel programming
options, determine the D8l29's response to the serial
data. Programming within the control panel can activate
specific relays or sets of relays in response to system
conditions.
For the D94l2GV2, D94l2G, D7412GV2, D7412G,
D7212GV2, and D7212G, slide switches are configured
for specific relay output numbers, which are activated
according to their programming. The D8l29 uses five
slide switches with multiple setting options to configure
its mode of operation_ The D8l29 receives serial data
from the control panel and activates relays in response
to control panel conditions and slide switch settings.
Relays can be programmed for remote control from a
panel keypad.

Loosen the two Yo.20 nuts on the top end of the latch housing just enough to slide out the
bottom latch cover enough to see the mounting hole. Insert the Locking Plunger
(included in hardware pkg.) in the housing. Place the Latch Housing, with plunger
inside, against the latch side and top comer of the doorjamb pressing against the door.
The top-mounting bracket may be adjusted. by loosening the two nuts and sliding back
and forth for the thickness oftbe doorframe. Make sure the plunger toucbes the door.
Mark the mounting hole (closest to the door) up through the body of the Latch Housing.
Drill the mark with a Yo" bit and insert a blue anchor. Place tbe long 2 Yz" screw through
the body of the Latch Housing, tighten the screw. Make sure the top-mounting bracket is
against the front face ofthe doorjamb. Mark the two Mounting Holes. Drill the two
marked holes W' and insert two blue anchors. Insert two 1" screws through the mounting
bracket and tighten. Tighten the two ~-20 nuts holding the bracket. Slide the bottom
latch cover back into place under the lip and tighten the two nuts back into place.

hoie of the 'black alann cover. Assemble the connector. making sure the Stainless Flex
Hose does not extend more than W' past the fitting. Connect the wiring to the Terminal
Strip inside the alarm assembly. The wiring strip connections are color indicated, Install
the knockout'seal (included in hardware pkg.) in the top hole of the black alann cover.
The flex hose will need to loop down from the black alarm box 6" to allow for the
opening oithe door. This loop will keep the wires from pulling loose when the door is
opened. Once again, this is a closed loop system and the alann win sound immediately
when powered if any wires are pulled loose.
Take one of the Clamps and using the Self-Tapping Screws, attach the Flex Hose to the
doorjamb at the height of the black alarm box. Open the door to make sure it win open
completely. Adjust your Flex Hose loop accordingly. You can now mount the other Flex
Hose Clamps to secure the Flex Hose to the doorjamb.
5. CONTROL PANEL INSTALLATION

The Control Box should be centered above the pair of doors or single door for the Flex
Hose to be the appropriate length. The Control Box has two external mounting brackets
to fasten it to the wall. Mark the two holes from the mounting brackets located on the top
and bottom of the Control Box. Drill the two marked holes W' and insert two of the blue
anchors. Insert two 1" long screws through the mounting brackets and tighten. Secure
the Flex Hose to the wan as needed using the Cable Clamps.
6.
LATCHING PLUNGER INSTALLATION
Unlock and open the door. Place the Transfer Pin (included in marked box) in the end of
the Plunger, which is in place in the Latch Housing. Slam the door closed to mark
location.. Open the door; check to make sure the pin marked the door. Remove the
Transfer Pin and save for the next installation.
Drill the marked spot with a W' pilot bit completely through the door, You will now use
the pilot hole and drill with a 3/8" bit through the door. Using the 3/8" bit, ream the hole
on the outside shell only. This is to allow the 3/8" Elevator Bolt to seat properly without
distorting the door. Place the Elevator Bolt, head outside. through the door. Place the
large flat washer over the threads of the Elevator Bolt then remove the Plunger from the
Latch Housing and screw it completely onto the Elevator Bolt. The smaller flat washer
may be needed iithe door has warped and is pulling away from the frame. Tighten the
SetScrew into the Plunger - this may need to be adjusted later if the door does not stay
locked for 15 seconds.
7. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
You are now ready for 110 volts to be connected to the Control Box. The connection
wires are in the junction box on top of the Control Box. The white and black wires are
for 110 volts. The green wire is ground. The blue and red wires are for the 24 volt frre

alarm option which wiJI only be used if the 110 volts are NOT ran to a relay at the alarm
panel.
&.
OPERATION
Once the voltage is connected you are ready to check the operation of the TDL. Lock tbe
door, using the Positive Lock Panic Hardware and turn on the aIann switch inside the
black alarm cover. Once the power is on there win be a quick self check chirp and a
Green indicator light will be lit on the outQide of the Control Box. If the alarm sounds
immediately -look for a loose wire. If the green light is NOT on check to see that there
is power to the PC Board inside the control box. qtlte green light is on and the red
light is flashing tum tlte alarm back off and open tlte door, Adjust tile plunger at tlte
top of the door by loosening the SetScrew and tU1'1I the plunger * of (I turn, Sltut the
door and reset tile alarm to see if the red I;ght is sti/ljlashing. Contmue the
adjustment until the red light is no longer flaslt/llg then tighten the SetScrew back.
Turn the aIann back on. Depress the paddle on the Positive Lock. The lock win unlock
and the alarm will sound while a Red light on the outside of the Control Box flashes (the
red light should only flash while the alarm is sounding), The Time Delay Lock will be
energized and will hold the door locked for 15 seconds. Tum the alarm off and lock the
door again by pulling out on the Positive Lock paddle. Tum the alarm back on, This will
start a new cycle, The Green light on the Control Box Cover should be on, indicating
that the door is locked and armed.
If the red light is flashing on a pair of doors - turn offboth alarms, open both doors, pull
both paddles back out with the doors open, and turn on the right side alann. If the alarm
chirps and the red light flashes, adjust the plunger until the red light is no longer flashing.
If the red light did not flash after the chirp, shut the right door (the plunger is in the
correct position) and turn on the left side alarm. Once again, if the red light flashes,
adjust the plunger until the red light is no longer flashing. When both plungers are in the
correction position, the red light should only flash when the alarm is sounding.

TIME DELAY WIRING INSTRUCTION
*NOTE:
TO MEET NEC AND U,L. LISTING YOU MUST USE CLASS 1 WIRE TO
MAKE CONNECTIONS IN THE JUNCTION BOX.
THE RED AND BLUE WIRES MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE 24
VOLT FIRE ALARM SYSTEM, OR THE 110 VOLTS MUST BE RAN TO
THE RELAY AT THE ALARM PANEL. EITHER WAY, THE TIME
DELAY MUST DROP OUT WHEN THE FIRE ALARM SOUNDS.
JUNCTION BOX
BLUE TO - 24V DC
RED TO + 24V DC
WHITE TO IIOV
BLACK TO IIOV
GREEN TO GROUND

**Junction Box is located on top of the White Control Box**
**Onlv when Red and Blue wires are connected to 24-volt rU'e alarm system. Once the two
wires are connected you MUST remove the two pull jumpers on the PC Board inside the Control
Box. (R47 & R48 above and below the relay), This allows the 15 second delay to drop out when
the fire alann sounds. If the resisters are not removed the delay will not drop out which is
against all Fire Codes. **

POSITIVE LOCK TIME DELAY LOCK
The Positive Lock TDL is used with our THP A(W) Series lock and provides the following:
· The door is locked with the THP A(W) Series Panic Hardware Lock, which provides C!
prying force in excess of 5000 lbs.
. TIle Time Delay lock is energized with 8 volts in a holding mode, which will hold an
additional force of 150 Jbs.
· When the THP A(W) lock is unlocked, a signal is sent to the Time Delay lock. This
switches the roL from 8 volts to 24 volts with a holding force in excess of700 lbs.
· Once the THPA(W) lock is ope~ an irreversible set ofcircumstances will be set into
motion by which the door cannot be opened fur 15 seconds. However, at the end of 15
seconds the door can be opened.
(We can provide a 30 second delay ifauthorized by the local Fire Marshall.)
· There are provisions included within our control to receive a signal from the alarm
system In the event that the alarm system signals that a smoke detector. sprinkler
system, or the alarm system is activated the Time Delay lock is removed from service and
the door can be opened at once.
· The signal sent from Alarm Central can be either of the fo 1I0'\l\ing:
Milliamp current loop - 20 milliamp standard.
24 volts AC or DC signal sent or removed.
The COIUlectiOns are provided, simply pick your choice and make wiring connections.
The Positive Lock Time Delay system is a positive latch device. We do not depend on magnets,
which can be rendered inoperable due to tampering or door warp and misalignment.
We provide lights to assure you at a glance that the TDL is locked and energized. If you are
currently using magnetic contacts (which rely on alignment) you can run your alarm wires to OUf
control. This will eliminate your magnetic contacts and door alignment problems. If the door is
unlocked your alarm central system will be alel1ed immediately and the door will remain locked
for 15 (30) seconds. During this time delay the alarm will be sounding and a red light will be
flashing until the unit is disarmed with a key.
