Inc. to perfonn tests on three SeriesIModel 0201, PVC double hung windows at their facility
located in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The samples tested SUGcessfully met the perfonnance
requirements for the following ratings: Test Specimen #1: H-LC25 1118 x 1956.(44 x 77); Test
Specimen #2: H-LC4? 1118 x 1524* (44 x 60*); TestSpecimen #3: H-LC55 914 x 1524* (3.6 x
60*). Test specimen description and resultS are reported herem.

Glazing Details: The sash were exterior glazed with nominal 21 mm (13/1(j") thick, sealed
insulating glass fabricated from two sheets of3,O nun (1/8") clear annealed glass a V-shaped
steel spacet: systeIll embedded in sealant, single sealed. The.insulating glass was set against
a double-sided adhesive tape and secured with rigid vinyl glazing beads, .
Frame Construction: The PVC frarile. was constructed. using mitered and welded corner
construction. A snap-in PVC adapter was applied to the head.

construction.
Screen Construction: The screen was constructed with extruded aluminum. Thecomers
were miter cut and secured using plastic comer keys. The fiberglass mesh screen cloth was

Installation: The unit was installed in a wood buck constructed of Spruce-Pine-Fir
coostructioh lumber and secured through the jambs to the buck using four #8 x 64 nun
(2-1/2") long screws, one at the top and bottom of each jamb, The .exterior and interior
perimeter was sealed with a silicone sealant, with the exception of an approximate 102 nun
(4") long void at each.interior sill comer. A nominal 5 nun (3/16") gap was maintained at
the perimeter between the buck and window frame.

I have performed an installation fastener analysis for your 0501 Double Hung Window
installed to wood framing. The windows considered were as follows:

My analysis assumed using #8 (0.164" dia.) wood screws with a minimum penetration of
1-114". To safely resist the design wind pressure, 8 such anchors are req'uired. At'
installation, use three (3) anchors in each jamb: one near the top and bottom corners and
one near the midspan, and one (1) anchor in the mid span of the head and sill. For the
4' 4" wide by 5' 1" tall window and the 3' 0" wide by 6' 0" tall window, the anchor in the
sill is not required.
