Aden of TRC performed a NESHAP asbestos survey of Wal- Mart Store #706 located at 7631 Gall Boulevard, in Zephyrhills, FL. Inspection, sampling and analytical procedures were performed in general accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) guidelines (EPA 40 CFR 61 Subpart M). A total of 171 bulk samples were analyzed to facilitate any future interior renovation of the structure. Asbestos was identified in materials within as follows: Material Location „Percent/Type' Approx Material NESHAP Quantity Condition Category Asbestos was not identified in any of the sample materials. Asbestos containing materials as defined by the EPA and OSHA (Occupational safety & Health Administration) are materials with an asbestos concentration of greater than 1% (>1%) as analyzed by polarized light microscopy(PLM). In addition,ACBM are designated as: Friable asbestos - material which can be crumbled, pulverized or reduced to powder by hand pressure, a.k.a. Regulated Asbestos Containing Materials(RACM) Category I non-friable- includes resilient floor coverings, asphalt roofing products, gaskets and packings. Category II non-friable - any non-friable ACM that is not in Category I (i.e. transite siding material). A complete listing of suspect materials, sampled materials and the analytical results can be found in the text portion of the report. 1 Laboratory analytical data sheets should be reviewed for potential asbestos content within individual layers of a sample for each material. Analysis of an individual layer of a material may exceed 1%while the composite analysis of the material as a whole is below 1%. Laboratory analytical data sheets are presented within Appendix A. Page 3 INTRODUCTION A NESHAP based survey was completed for Wal-Mart on August 22, 2007 by TRC. The survey encompassed Wal-Mart Store #706 located at 7631 Gall Boulevard in Zephyrhills, FL, and included materials which will likely be disturbed during upcoming and future renovations on the interior of the store only. The EPA certified AHERA (Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act) accredited inspector representative for TRC Environomics was Shannon G. Aden, an EPA(Environmental Protection Agency) AHERA Asbestos Building Inspector. Copies of valid training certificates and state licenses (when applicable) are presented in Appendix B. The exterior walls are concrete block with drywall interior partition walls and/or orange peel metal sheeting (deli, bakery and seafood areas). The ceiling of the main sales floor is open to the roof deck, with the deli, bakery, seafood and tenant area ceilings consisting of a 2'x 4' or 2'x 2' acoustic ceiling tile. The employee areas have a 2'x 4' fiberglass ceiling tile. The flooring consists of concrete in the main sales floor and employee areas, with some areas containing faux wood sheet flooring. The tenant spaces have either vinyl floor tile or faux wood sheet flooring, depending upon the area, and carpet is found in the two main entrance areas. No other flooring was identified beneath any of the existing flooring. Page 4 ASBESUJS SAMPLING AND ANALYTICAL PROCEDURES Sampling Procedures Representative bulk samples of suspect asbestos containing building materials were randomly collected from interior of the building. Homogenous material determination was based on the following criteria: Similar physical characteristics(same color and texture, etc.) Application(sprayed-on,troweled-on, assembly into a system etc.) Material function(Thermal insulation, floor tile,wallboard system etc.) The bulk samples were collected on the inspection date. Condition assessments were performed by the accredited inspector during the inspection. PLM(Polarized Light Microscopy)Analysis Methodology Laboratory services were provided by EMC Labs in Phoenix, AZ, a National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) certified laboratory(NVLAP code#0101926-0). PLM samples were analyzed utilizing the EPA's Test Methods: Methods for the determination of Asbestos in Bulk Building Materials (EPA 600/R-93/116, July 1993) and the McCrone Research Institute's The Asbestos Particle Atlas as method references. Additional treatment and tests may be required to accurately define composition (i.e. ashing, extraction, acetone treatment, and Transmission Electron Microscopy-TEM). Analysis was performed by using the bulk sample for visual observation and slide preparation(s) for microscopic examination and identification. The samples were analyzed for asbestos (chrysotile, amosite, crocidolite, anthophyllite, and actinolite/tremolite), fibrous non-asbestos constituents (mineral wool, cellulose, etc.) and non-fibrous constituents. Using a stereoscope, the microscopist visually estimated relative amounts of each constituent by determining the volume of each constituent in proportion to the total volume of the sample. FINDINGS Interpretation of Asbestos Results Federal OSHA and EPA define an ACM as any material containing >1% asbestos. The lower limit of reliable detection for asbestos using the PLM analytical method is 1.0% by volume. If "<1%" appears in this report, it should be interpreted as meaning that asbestos was present in the sample,but the exact percentage is unknown. Per EPA NESHAP regulations, material with PLM-derived asbestos concentration of<10%must be assumed to be ACM until it is point counted to more precisely determine the actual asbestos content. If this material is found to contain less than 1% asbestos by point counting,then it may be disposed of as non-hazardous waste. Any sample can be subjected to the more stringent Point Count Method of analysis to more precisely determine the actual asbestos content. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS Results of analysis confirmed asbestos was not identified in concentrations greater than 1% within any of the bulk samples collected. Any materials uncovered during the demolition activities that are not addressed in this inspection report, or presumed asbestos containing materials must be sampled by an accredited asbestos inspector prior to any disturbance, or they must be treated as asbestos containing. 5 l Andrew J. Open the lid on the caddy and place it in front of the fryer to be emptied. Open the drain valve to empty the used oil from the fryer into the caddy. A strainer basket is located in the caddy to catch any solid particles that may be in the oil. NOTE: If the _ fryer has an integral pump, a modified hose is available that will connect to the fryer. The oil can then be pumped into the caddy by the integral ►" pump. 3. Move the caddy to the pump station. Close the lid on the caddy to prevent oil from splashing out of the caddy while it is being moved. 4. Connect the caddy hose to the inlet fitting. Securely attach the quick connect on the end of the caddy hose to the inlet at the pump station. Caddy Hose Connected to Pum Station $ MG21 WASTE COOKING OIL TANK WITH CADDY Page 6 5. Connect the caddy power cord. Plug the power cord on the caddy pump into the outlet on the control panel. 6. Pump the oil into the storage tank. Hold the "Push to Pump"button while the oil is pumped into the storage tank. Open the lid on the cart to observe the oil being pumped out. 7. Disconnect the caddy hose. Once all of the oil is pumped out of the caddy, disconnect the hose from the inlet connection and attach it to the connection on top of the caddy. The hose will be HOT!! Use gloves!! Strainer Basket 8. Empty the caddy hose. Connect the hose to the cart and run the pump 10-15 seconds to empty the hose. 9. Disconnect the caddy power cord. Disconnect the power cord from the control panel outlet. This cord should be hung on the handle to prevent it from dragging on the ground where it may be damaged. 10. Clean the strainer basket. Remove the strainer basket from the caddy and properly dispose of the solids/fines in the trash container. Wash the strainer basket in the sink and place it back in the caddy. ii. Store the caddy. The caddy should be stored in a location where it cannot become a trip hazard. 4 I Page 7 Control Panel "POWER" -The green"Power"light on the control panel should always stay lit indicating that the unit has power. If the unit is unplugged or loses power a buzzer will sound. "CALL FOR PICKUP" -As the storage tank is filled with oil,the"Call for Pickup" light will become lit indicating the unit is close to becoming full. "FULL" -When the storage tank is completely full,the "Full" light will become lit. Call the number located on the storage tank to schedule a pick-up. Once the tank is full,the control panel will not allow any more oil to be pumped into the storage tank to prevent overflowing the unit. "PUSH TO PUMP"—Push and hold the "Push to Control Panel Pump"button to turn on the pump on the caddy. This pump will transfer the oil from the caddy into the storage tank. Oil Pickup When the oil is picked up, a pump truck will connect to Pickup Truck the 2"outlet pipe that runs through the wall to the outside of the building. The oil will be pumped out of the storage tank into the truck. If the Defrost Heater raises internal air temperature above 90°F,the Defrost Limit Thermostat(4)will open. 3. Temperature rise of the evaporator closes the Relay Control Thermostat(5)at about 35°F,energizing 120V A.S.Relay Coil(6). This relay's contacts open the Frame and Door Heater Circuits. 4. Defrost vapor enters evaporator causing a rise in temperature.At about 35°F the Control Relay Thermostat(5) closes the Fan Relay Coil(7)and Control Relay Coil(6)circuit. The Coil opens the Fan,Door Heater, and Frame Heater circuits,while energizing the Drain Pan Heater(9). 2. If the Drain Pan Heater(9)raises internal air temperature above 90°F,the Heater Limit Thermostat(4)will open. 3. When the defrost timer ends a defrost period,the evaporator temperature will start to fall.
