In observance of Armistice Day the Armistice Dear the American Legion sponsored an essay cont- <br />est on "Who is a Good American?" for Junior and Senior high Schools. First award was given to <br />2lancy Skinner, recon ward t,_�Jrpmellt_Le_Heuy, and to Jane Smith was given Honorable Men- <br />tion. Each of the winners was presented with a book of interest to every good American. <br />At the beginning of the second semester the Business English Class under the direction fo Mrs. <br />Mozena contributed a coluLm of school items to the Zephyrhills sews. This column has been con- <br />tinued by Hazel Boatwright. The name for the column, "Bulldog Bulletin" was suggested by <br />Jaynellf Le Heup. <br />z_ <br />On January 18th the W.C.T.J. essay contest was held. In the Sr. High School the award, a me- <br />dal, was given to Ted Mayor. In the Jr. High the medal was won by Jsynell• Le Reup. <br />The contest for the grades was held on February 22nd when each grade presented a semonstration. <br />For the first three grades the award was given to the Third Grade. The Fourth Grade won the <br />award for the Intermediate Grades. To the Fourth Grade Mrs. Mabel Price presented a picture fo <br />the school room. <br />From March 6th to 13th the Seniors conducted a contest to find a name for the new annual. An <br />award of five dollars was won by Bettye Jo Turner who submitted the name Of "Zephilaco". <br />American Legion Award will be given to the Eighth Grade Girl apd Boy who have shown the beat <br />citizenshipqualitiestogether with high scholarghi ttainm Yo. rl 1945-46 is <br />Boy 1945-46 isIb S <br />SENIOR HONORS <br />ine valedictorian of each Senior Class is the Member of the class who has received the Highest <br />grades for the, four years in High school. Valedictorian 1945-46 is <br />Salutat6rian is the member of the Senior Class who receives second highest grades for the four <br />years. Salutatorian 1945-46 in ) <br />Lost Worthwhile Senior will be awarded a medal and a cup. The cup is the George A. Stevens <br />Cup presented by The Tourist Club 1934. The student's name will be engraved. on the cup <br />and the student will keep it for a year. At the end of whicb time it ispasseA on to the next <br />Worthwhile Senior. ➢lost Worthwhile Senior 1945-46 is l\ :t \ rr T1 <br />Activities awards will be given to the Senior girl and boy who have been most cooperative and <br />helpful in school activities. They will be judged on participation and on citizenship qua- <br />lities.
