Also,the roof decking <br /> should be clear of debris and moisture pxiar to installation of the roofing felt. <br /> Roofing felt should be installed frorn the bottam of the roaf in harizontal layers to <br /> increase the water shedding ability of the felt. The initial layer of felt should be irnstalled <br /> to cover the bottom edge of the decicing, from edge to edge. Overhang is not required. <br /> Anchor the top corner af the felt after it has been praperly positioned and roll the felt aut <br /> acrass the roa£ Pay careful attentic�n to roil the felt out smoothly, avoiding wrinkles as <br /> you mave across the roof. The top edge af the felt should be fastened no less than evezy <br /> eight inches. The middle and bottom edge should also be fastened no less than every <br /> eight inches. Fasteners should be applied no less than every eight inches along the eaves. <br /> The next.course of felt should also be aligned with the roof edge and should overlap the <br /> previous course two inches�sometimes referred to as head iap}. In the event you get ta <br /> the end of a xall prior to getting to the op�5osite edge of the raof,begin a new roll with a <br /> faur inch overlap aver the end of the priar roll{sametimes referred to as end iap}. Tiie <br /> same fastening patterri used on the middle and bottom af the initial course should be used <br /> far each subsequent course. For th�top af each subsequent course,fasten internuttently <br /> to hold the top edge in place until the next course is applied. The fasteners in the bottom <br /> afthe next cozzrse wili hold the top af the previous caurse securely. � <br /> Continue up the roof in this manner. Be sure to firm2y fasten the top of the fi�nal course if <br /> it terminates at the top edge of the roof. Qtherwise,overlap the felt over the ridge and <br /> secure then begin at the bottom of the other side of the ridge and repeat the process. <br /> In vaile�s, lay a ver�ical section of roofing felt the Iength of the valley prior to fhe <br /> installation of the horizantal nZns of roofing felt.
