ORDINANCE NO. 417 AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL \\ OF THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR THE ASSIGNMENT OF STREET NAMES; PROVIDING FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF FEES FOR APPLICATIONS TO NAME NEW STREETS OR CHANGE EXISTING NAMES OF STREETS ; AND III PROVIDING FOR THE ORDINANCE TO BECOME IP EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UPON PASSAGE BY TWO- THIRDS (2/3) VOTE OF COUNCIL. WHEREAS , the City of Zephyrhills has been an iucorpor8ted municipality since 1914, and _ WHEREAS , the City of Zephyrhills attaches great historical significance to the names of its streets , roadways and thoroughfares and WHEREAS , the City Council has determined that it is in the best interest of the public health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Zephyrhills , to establish by Ordinance, the names of all streets , roadways and thoroughfares within its boundaries , NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED by the City 111 Council of the City of Zephyrhills , Florida as follows : Section 1 . Short Title and Authority: This Ordinance shall be known as the Zephyrhills Street Naming Ordinance and is adopted under the authority of Chapter 166 , Florida Statutes . Section 2 . Street Names and Name Changes : All public and private streets within the City shall receive names from the City Council . All streets which presently are named by City map orother municipal instrument shall remain the same unless changed by the City Council . Section 3 . Application for Street Names . Application for street names for new streets , roadways or thoroughfares IIIor to change the name of any existing street or thoroughfare may be requested by any property owner abutting the street involved.
