1 <br /> I/ ORDINANCE NO. 359 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ZEPHYRHILLS <br /> AMENDING CHAPTER 8 OF THE CITY CODE ; AMEND- <br /> ING SECTION -8-4, QUALIFICATIONS GENERALLY <br /> AND NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES; .AMENDING SECTION <br /> 8-5 , TO PROVIDE FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT ' PROCEDURES ; <br /> DELETING SECTION 8-6 ; DELETING SECTION <br /> 8-7 ; DELETING SECTION 8-8 ; AND DELETING SECTION <br /> 8-9 . <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> ZEPHYRHILLS, as follows : <br /> 1 . Section 8-3 of Chapter 8 of the City Code shall <br /> be amended to delete said section in total . - <br /> 2 . Section 8-4 of Chapter 8 of the City Code shall <br /> be amended by deletion in total and shall hereafter read <br /> as follows : ' <br /> . "SECTION 8-4 . QUALIFICATIONS GENERALLY AND <br /> NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES. <br /> Any qualified voter of the City who has .been a <br /> resident of the City of Zephyrhills for a six <br /> month period immediately preceding the election may • <br /> qualify for any City elective 'office subject to the <br /> following conditions : . <br /> ( a) The Mayor of the City shall call a <br /> caucus , to -.be held by duly qualified electors of <br /> the City not less than twenty ( 20) days from the <br /> date of any general or special election . The <br /> caucus shall be for the purpose of nominating' _ -, : <br /> cand-i-dates for elective offices . The nomination of <br /> any candidate shall be supported by a petition <br /> requesting the nomination of any such candidate, <br /> signed by not less than- twenty-five duly-'qualified;- <br /> electors of the City, and such petition shall <br /> certified by the Pasco County Supervisor of - <br /> Elections and filed with the City Manager- on or <br /> before -the meeting of such caucus . <br /> ( b ) All candidates nominated in the -caucus <br /> shall be notified within three days of such <br /> nomination by the City Manager . Within -three days <br /> after the mailing of such notice , each candidate <br /> shall advise the - City Manager -tn - writ-i-ng of his - <br /> acceptance of the nomination and- shall- accompany . <br /> '\ VC), such notice of acceptance with a Three Dollar <br /> ($3 .00 ) qualifying fee . If no reply As received- : <br /> within three : days , it will be presumed that such <br /> candidate has refused such nomination- and th-at- his <br /> name will not be placed upon the ballot in the - <br /> \\,' forthcoming election .
