Up ORDiINANCE NO.. 305 _.74 XI. , AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ZEPHYR- o. rD• ;v C HILLS REGULATING THE CONSTRUCTION -r+ CO AND/OR MAINTENANCE OF SIGNS : PROVIDING _ 71 ' FOR A DEFINITION FOR SAID REGULATION; 0 y PROHIBITING HAZARDOUS SIGNS AND OFF-SITE SIGNS ; VESTING AUTHORITY IN ZEPHYRHILLS BUILDING INSPECTOR; PROVIDING PENALTY THEREFOR. • SECTION-1. This ordinance shall hereinafter be known as and referred to as the "Zephyrhills Sign Ordinance" . SECTION 2 . DEFINITION. A sign is name , identification, CDCD description, display, illustration, or body of information which is affixed to or painted, or represented directly or cCr indirectly upon a building , structure , or piece of land and which directs attention to an object, product , place , activity, person, institution, organization, or business . However , a "sign" shall not include any display of offical court or public notice nor any official traffic control device , nor shall it include the flag, emblem or insignia of a nation or political unit . A "sign" shall not include a sign located completely within an enclosed building unless the context shall so indicate . SECTION 3 . REGULATING TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN HAZARDS. No sign shall be erected or maintained which constitutes a traffic hazard or a detriment to traffic safety by reason of its size , location, movement , content, coloring, or method, o.f illumination, or by obstructing or detracting from.- ti' 'e• visi- j bility of any Jof-f-icial traffic control device by diverting or tending to divert the attention of drivers ; nor ,shall any''- ,, sign be erected in such a manner as to obstruct the vision of ,‘ J - pedestrians .
