General: Provide identification and warning wherever reasonably required to ensure safe and <br /> efficient operation and maintenance of the electrical systems. Provide identification and warning <br /> identification if necessary for signage to help prevent misuse of electrical facilities by unauthorized <br /> personnel. <br /> B. Plasticized signs: Install self-adhesive plastic signs or similar equivalent identification, instruction <br /> or warnings on switches, outlets and other controls, devices and covers of electrical enclosures. <br /> Where detailed instructions or explanations are needed, provide plasticized tags with clearly written <br /> messages adequate for the intended purposes. <br /> C. Locations: In addition to installation of danger signs required by governing regulations and <br /> authorities, install appropriate danger signs at locations indicated and at locations subsequently <br /> identified as constituting dangers for persons in or about the project. <br /> D. Critical Switches/Controls: Install danger signs on switches and similar controls, regardless of <br /> whether concealed or locked up, where untimely or inadvertent operation (by anyone) could result in <br /> significant danger to persons, or damage to or loss of property. <br /> E. Electrical Equipment Rooms: Provide warning signage at the entrance to each such room; <br /> identify the hazard, and direct non-qualified personnel to stay away. <br /> F. Equipment Identification: <br /> 1. Nameplates: Install an engraved phenolic plastic laminate nameplate on each unit of <br /> electrical equipment in the building, including central or master unit of each electrical system <br /> unless unit is specified with its own self-explanatory identification or signal system. Except <br /> as otherwise indicated, provide single line of text. Provide text matching terminology and <br /> numbering of the contract documents and shop drawings. <br /> a. Normal system shall be 1/2 inch high white lettering in a black field. <br /> b. Life safety system - 1/2" high with black letters in a yellow field. <br /> C. Critical system— 1/2" high with white letters in orange field. <br /> d. Equipment system - 1/2" high with white letters in a green field. <br /> 2. Locations: Provide nameplates for each unit of the following categories of electrical work; <br /> a. Switchboard, panelboards, electrical cabinets, and enclosures. <br /> 1) Provide a nameplate inside, outside and above the door (if equipped with one) <br /> listing its designation, voltage, source and circuit number. <br /> b. Access panel/doors to electrical facilities. <br /> C. Major electrical switchgear and switchboards. <br /> d. Power Transfer Equipment. <br /> e. Motor starters. <br /> f. Disconnect switches. <br /> g.
