If dimensions for equipment proposed in submitted shop drawings are different than what is
shown on the drawings, the contractor shall submit sketches showing layout of proposed
equipment.
1. Coordination Study: The Contractor shall expect an additional 10 working days for panelboard and
switchboard review to allow the Engineer to design the coordination study.
D. NFPA 70E compliance: The panelboards and switchboards shall have a NFPA 70E label applied to
the front face. It shall include the PPE requirements and the hazard classification. Fault current levels
are indicated in the plans. Note: A label indicating "NFPA 70E compliance" only is not acceptable.
Coordinate with the engineer of record.
1.5 OVERCURRENT PROTECTIVE DEVICES
A. Shop drawings and product data: Shop drawings shall clearly indicate;
1. Frame sizes and interrupting capacity of all circuit breakers.
2. Horsepower ratings of rated voltage of fused switches and circuit breakers.
3. Size and type of fuses being provided.
4. Device is listing by a nationally recognized testing Agency.
5. Device complies with these specifications, drawings, and applicable standards of NEMA, IEEE, and
ANSI.
PART 2— PRODUCTS
2.1 PANELBOARDS
A. The bus shall be insulated. The bus bar connections to the branch circuit
breakers shall be of the "distributed phase" or phase sequence type. All current carrying parts of the bus
structure shall be tin plated copper. A full size insulated neutral bus bar shall be provided. Provide system
grounding tin plated copper bus bar bonded to the panelboard cabinet for connection of system grounding
conductors. The bus bar shall be mechanically and electrically isolated from the neutral bar except where
panelboard is used as service entrance equipment.
C. Molded Case Circuit Breakers: All panelboard branch circuit breakers shall be bolt-on thermal-magnetic
molded case type. Breakers shall be 1, 2 or 3 pole with an integral crossbar to assure simultaneous opening
of all poles in multi-pole circuit breakers. Breakers shall have an over center, trip-free, toggle-type operating
mechanism with quick-make, quick-break action and active handle indication. Handles shall have "ON",
"OFF", and "TRIPPED" positions. Bolt-on circuit breakers shall be able to be installed in the panelboard
without requiring additional mounting hardware.
