SECTION 23 07 00—HVAC INSULATION <br /> PART 1 -GENERAL <br /> 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS <br /> A. Drawings and general provisions of Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions <br /> and Division 23 Specification sections, apply to work of this section. <br /> B. The Bidding Requirements and Contractual Conditions set forth in Division 01 apply to this <br /> section. <br /> 1.2 DESCRIPTION OF WORK <br /> A. Extent of HVAC insulation required by this section is indicated on drawings, and by requirements <br /> of this section. <br /> B. Types of mechanical insulation specified in this section include the following: <br /> 1. Piping System Insulation: <br /> Condensate Piping Systems <br /> 2. Ductwork System Insulation: <br /> Supply and Outside Air Ductwork <br /> Air Plenums and Equipment Housings <br /> 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> A. Firms regularly engaged in manufacturer of HVAC insulation products, of types and sizes <br /> required, whose products have been in satisfactory use in similar service for not less than 5 <br /> years. <br /> B. Subject to compliance with requirements, manufacturers offering products which may be <br /> incorporated in the work include, but are not limited to, the following: Armstrong, Certainteed <br /> Corp., Johns-Manville Corp., Knauf Fiber Glass, Owens-Corning Fiberglass Corp., and Pittsburgh <br /> Corning Corp. <br /> C. Installer: A firm with at least 5 years successful installation experience on projects with HVAC <br /> insulation similar to that required for this project. <br /> D. Flame/Smoke Ratings: Provide composite HVAC insulation (insulation, jackets, coverings, <br /> sealers, mastics and adhesives) with flame-spread rating of 25 or less, and Smoke-developed <br /> rating of 50 or less, as tested by ANSI/ASIM E 84 (NFPA 255) method. <br /> E. Appropriate ASTM,ANSI, UL,ASME and NFPA standards shall be met. <br /> 1.4 SUBMITTALS <br /> A. Submit manufacturer's specifications and installation instructions for each type of HVAC <br /> insulation. Submit schedule showing manufacturer's product number, thickness, and furnished <br /> accessories for each HVAC system requiring insulation. Include reference to minimum Florida <br /> Building Code and Florida Energy Conservation values on the submittal. Submit certified test <br /> reports on performances including burning characteristics and thermal insulating valves. <br /> B.
