<br />SECTION A -A
<br />1. Wall Assembly -- The 1 or 2 hr fire -rated gypsum wallboard/stud wall assembly shall be constructed
<br />of the materials and in the manner specified in the individual U300 or U400 Series Wall and Partition
<br />Designs in the UL Fire Resistance Directory and shall include the following construction features:
<br />A. Studs -- Wall framing may consist of either wood studs or steel channel studs. Wood studs to
<br />consist of nom 2 by 4 in. lumber spaced 16 in. OC. Steel studs to be min 2-1/2 in. wide and
<br />spaced max 24 in. OC. When steel studs are used and the diam of opening exceeds the width of
<br />stud cavity, the opening shall be framed on all sides using lengths of steel stud installed between
<br />the vertical studs and screw -attached to the steel studs at each end. The framed opening in the
<br />wall shall be 4 to 6 in. wider and 4 to 6 in. higher than the diameter of the penetrating item such
<br />that, when the penetrating item is installed in the opening, a 2 to 3 in. clearance is present
<br />between the penetrating item and the framing on all four sides.
<br />B. Gypsum Board* -- 5/8 in. thick, 4 ft wide with square or tapered edges. The gypsum board type,
<br />thickness, number of layers, fastener type and sheet orientation shall be as specified in the individual
<br />U300 or U400 Series Design in the UL Fire Resistance Directory. Max diameter of opening is 32-1/4
<br />in. for steel stud walls. Max diameter of opening is 14-1/2 in. for wood stud walls. The F Rating of
<br />the fire -stop system is equal to the fire rating of the wall assembly.
<br />2. Through -Penetrants -- One metallic pipe, conduit or tubing to be installed either concentrically or
<br />eccentrically within the fire -stop system. The annular space shall be min 0 in. to max 2-1/4 in. Pipe
<br />may be installed with continuous point contact. Pipe, conduit or tubing may be installed at an angle not
<br />greater than 45 degrees from perpendicular. Pipe, conduit or tubing to be rigidly supported on both sides
<br />of wall assembly. The following types and sizes of metallic pipes, conduits or tubing may be used:
<br />A. Steel Pipe -- Nom 30 in diam (or smaller) Schedule 10 (or heavier) steel pipe.
<br />B. Iron Pipe -- Nom 30 in. diam (or smaller) cast or ductile iron pipe.
<br />C. Conduit -- Nom 4 in diam (or smaller) steel electrical metallic tubing or 6 in. diam steel conduit.
<br />D. Copper Tubing -- Nom 6 in. diam (or smaller) Type L (or heavier) copper tubing.
<br />E. Copper Pipe -- Nom 6 in. diam (or smaller) regular (or heavier) copper pipe.
<br />3. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* -- Sealant -- Min 5/8 in. thickness of fill material applied within the
<br />annulus, flush with both surfaces of wall. At the point or continuous contact locations between pipe and
<br />wall, a min 1/2 in. diameter bead of fill material shall be applied at the pipe wall interface on both
<br />surfaces of wall.

<br />1. Floor or Wall Assembly -- Min 4-1/2 in. thick reinforced lightweight or normal weight (100-150 pcf)
<br />concrete. Wall may also be constructed of any UL Classified Concrete Blocks*. Max diam of opening is
<br />14 in.

<br />2. Through -Penetrants -- One metallic pipe, conduit or tubing to installed either concentrically or
<br />eccentrically within the firestop system. The annular space shall be min 0 in. to max 3-1/4 in. Pipe,
<br />conduit or tubing to be rigidly supported on both sides of wall assembly. The following types and sizes
<br />of metallic pipes, conduits or tubing may be used:

<br />3. Firestop System -- The firestop system shall consist of the following:
<br />A. Packing Material -- Mineral wool batt insulation firmly packed into opening as a permanent form.
<br />Packing material to be recessed from top surface of floor or from both surfaces of wall as required
<br />to accommodate the required thickness of fill material. As an option to the above, backer rod
<br />and/or foamed plastic backer material may be used.
<br />B. Fill, Void or Cavity Material* -- Sealant -- Min 1/2 in. thickness of fill material applied within
<br />the annulus, flush with top surface of floor or with both surfaces of wall. At the point contact
<br />location between pipe and concrete, a min 1/2 in. diam bead of fill material shall be applied at the
<br />concrete/pipe interface on the top surface of floor and on both surfaces of wall.

<br />GENERAL NOTES
<br />1. ALL WORK SHALL COMPLY WITH THE LATEST ADOPTED EDITION OF THE FLORIDA BUILDING CODE, N.F.P.A #13, 14, 24, 25, 70, 72, 101, UL
<br />LISTING, AND APPLICABLE FACTORY MUTUAL REQUIREMENTS. IN ANY CONFLICT THE MOST RIGID REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY.
<br />2. ALL MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT PROVIDED SHALL BE UL LISTED AND FM APPROVED FOR THE SPECIFIED SERVICE APPLICATION.
<br />3. CONTRACTOR SHALL PAINT ALL ABOVE GROUND FIRE SERVICE PIPING, FITTING AND VALVES WITH A MINIMUM OF 10 MILS RUST PROOF FIRE
<br />PROTECTION RED PAINT (OR PAINT TO MATCH BACKGROUND IF REQUESTED BY OWNER AND APPROVED BY A.H.J.). ALL PIPING SHALL
<br />COMPLY WITH N.F.P.A.13(07)-8.16.4.2.
<br />4. ALL FIRE SERVICE PIPING ABOVE GROUND SHALL BE SCHEDULE 40 STEEL PIPE (A.S.T.M. A-53).
<br />5. FIRE STOP ALL PENETRATIONS OF SMOKE/FIRE WALLS, CEILINGS, FLOORS, ROOFS, ETC.
<br />6. ALL PIPING OPEN TO EXTERIOR TO BE FACTORY HOT DIPPED GALVANIZED (PIPE, HANGERS AND FITTINGS).
<br />7. HANGING, BRACING AND RESTRAINT OF SYSTEM PIPING SHALL COMPLY WITH N.F.P.A.13(07)-9.
<br />8. SPRINKLERS SHALL BE PROVIDED IN ALL AREAS EXCEPT WHERE OTHERWISE NOTED.
<br />9. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. ALL WET SYSTEM SPRINKLER HEADS SHALL BE OF THE QUICK RESPONSE TYPE, AND SHALL BE UL/FM
<br />APPROVED FOR THE HAZARD AND PRESSURE SPECIFIED.
<br />10. ALL SPRINKLER HEADS SHALL BE INSTALLED ON CENTER OF CEILING TILE. CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE A RETURN BEND TO ALLOW TWO
<br />DEGREES OF MOVEMENT AT EACH SPRINKLER HEAD LOCATION, REFER TO DETAILS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. PENDENT SPRINKLER IN
<br />I.T. ROOM SHALL BE PROVIDED WITH GUARD (CAGE).
<br />11. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN A HANGER AND THE CENTER OF AN UPRIGHT SPRINKLER SHALL NOT BE LESS THAN 3 INCHES.
<br />12. PROVIDE STOCK OF SPRINKLER HEADS IN ACCORDANCE WITH N.F.P.A.13(07)-6.2.9.
<br />13. WHENEVER SPRINKLERS ARE INSTALLED IN ELECTRICAL ROOMS, HOODS OR SHIELDS MUST BE PROVIDED OVER ALL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT IN
<br />ACCORDANCE WITH N.F.P.A.13(07)-8.15.10. COORDINATE WITH ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR.
<br />14. PROVIDE AUXILIARY DRAINS WHERE A CHANGE IN PIPING DIRECTION PREVENTS DRAINAGE OF SYSTEM PIPING THROUGH THE MAIN DRAIN
<br />VALVE. AUXILIARY DRAINS SHALL COMPLY WITH N.F.P.A.13(07)-8.16.2.5.
<br />15. NO STORAGE SHALL BE ALLOWED IN THIS FACILITY. PRESENT FIRE PROTECTION DOES NOT ALLOW FOR STORAGE OF ANY TYPE. ADDITIONAL
<br />ENGINEERED FIRE PROTECTION PROVISIONS MUST BE MADE BASED ON STORAGE HEIGHT AND COMMODITY CLASS AS PER
<br />NFPA13(07)-CHAPTER 12 PRIOR TO THE REMOVAL OF THIS STORAGE RESTRICTION.
<br />16. ALL EXISTING SPRINKLER HEADS SHALL BE REPLACED BY NEW SPRINKLER HEADS OF THE SAME COVERAGE, RESPONSE TYPE AND K-FACTOR
<br />AS EXISTING HEADS. CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE WITH ARCHITECT PRIOR TO PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION.
<br />17. THIS PROJECT OCCURS IN AN EXISTING FACILITY. ALL CONTRACTORS AND SUBCONTRACTORS SHALL FAMILIARIZE THEMSELVES WITH EXISTING
<br />CONDITIONS THAT MAY AFFECT THE LOCATION AND ROUTING OF THEIR EQUIPMENT, CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE ALLOWANCES ON THEIR BIDS
<br />FOR PERFORMING A THOROROUGH SURVEY OF EXISTING INSTALLATIONS TO REFLECT ACTUAL SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS IN THEIR SUBMITTALS.
<br />THE BIDS SHALL ALSO ALLOW FOR ADDITIONAL FITTINGS AND LENGTHS OF PIPE REQUIRED TO ACCOMMODATE OFFSETS, CHANGES IN
<br />DIRECTION AND/OR ELEVATION REQUIRED TO ERECT THEIR SYSTEM IN CONGESTED LOCATIONS. ONLY RADICAL DEVIATIONS FROM BID
<br />DOCUMENTS WILL BE RECOGNIZED AS LEGITIMATE FIELD CONDITIONS.
<br />18. CONTRACTOR MUST VISIT THE SITE TO VERIFY EXISTING CONDITIONS AND STUDY "AS BUILT" CONDITIONS PRIOR TO BID. CONTRACTOR SHALL
<br />INCLUDE IN THEIR BID PRICE THE COST (INCLUDING MATERIAL, LABOR, OVERHEAD, AND PROFIT) OF ALL REQUIRED ITEMS TO SUCCESSFULLY INSTALL
<br />ALL ITEMS DESCRIBED OR IMPLIED/REQUIRED TO BE INSTALLED FOR PROVISION OF A COMPLETE FULL COMPLIANT OPERATIONAL SYSTEM.
<br />19. AREAS REQUIRING PARTIAL DEMOLITION OF EXISTING CONDITIONS TO PERFORM WORK SHALL BE REFINISHED, PAINTED AND PATCHED TO MATCH
<br />SURROUNDING AREAS. COORDINATE WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES AS REQUIRED.
<br />20. ALL WORK CONTAINED IN THIS DOCUMENTS SHALL BE INCLUDED AND INSTALLED BY THE CONTRACTOR UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
<br />21. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE PROVISION FOR REQUEST OF A FIRE WATER FLOW TEST, AND BASE HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS ON SUCH TEST.
<br />22. WORK TO BE CONCEALED SHALL REMAIN UNCOVERED UNTIL REQUIRED TESTS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED IN PRESENCE OF A/E AND OTHER
<br />REQUIRED REPRESENTATIVES.
<br />23. THE SYSTEM SHALL BE HYDROSTATICALLY TESTED AT 200 PSI FOR 2 HOURS CONFORMING TO N.F.P.A.13(07)-10.10.2.2.1 BEFORE FINAL
<br />APPROVAL.
<br />24. ALL FIRE SPRINKLER PIPING SHALL BE INSTALLED BY A CERTIFIED LICENSED CONTRACTOR AS PER FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE RULE
<br />4A-46 AND STATE STATUTE 489.105(N).
<br />25. CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN FIRE DEPARTMENT PERMIT BASED ON A/E APPROVED SHOP DRAWINGS - WORKING PLANS AS PER
<br />N.F.P.A.13(07)-22.1 - PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF SYSTEM(S).
<br />26. DRAWINGS ARE DIAGRAMMATIC, AND SHOW DESIGN INTENT. CONTRACTOR IS TO COORDINATE SYSTEM LAYOUT WITH EXISTING CONDITIONS AND
<br />OTHER DISCIPLINES (MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, ARCHITECTURAL, STRUCTURAL, ETC), TO AVOID CONFLICTS DURING CONSTRUCTION
<br />AND FACILITATE ACCESSIBILITY FOR MAINTENANCE. WHERE INTERFERENCE OCCUR, CONTRACTOR SHALL RE-ROUTE PIPING AS REQUIRED.

<br />28. DESIGN INTENT CONSTITUTES THE PROVISION OF COMPLETE SYSTEM, AS INDICATED WITH ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS AND ACCESSORIES
<br />WETHER EXPLICITLY SPECIFIED OR IMPLIED, TO ACHIEVE FULLY OPERATIONAL STATUS.
<br />29. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATION AND EXECUTION OF ALL NECESSARY CHANGES ATTRIBUTABLE TO INSTALLATION OF
