PRIOR TO SUBMITTING A BID, THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL VISIT THE JOB SITE AND VERIFY <br />EXACT LOCATIONS OF UTILITIES IN FIELD, ALL EXISTING BUILDING CONDITIONS AND THAT NO WORK WILL BE <br />REQUIRED OUTSIDE OF THE AREAS OF WORK SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. <br />2. THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING AND VERIFYING A CURRENT <br />WATER FLOW TEST AND PRESSURE DATA, THE DESIGN OF SHOP DRAWINGS AND, IF REQUIRED, PERFORMING <br />HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL WORK CUSTOMARILY INCLUDED IF NOT SPECIFICALLY <br />CALLED FOR ON THE PLANSTHE INSTALLATION AND DESIGN SHALL COMPLY WITH <br />NFPA 13, 2002 EDITION, 2004/2006 FLORIDA FIRE PREVENTION CODE, 2004/2006 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE CHAPTER <br />NINE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS, FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE CHAPTER 61G15-32 AND ALL OTHER CITY, COUNTY <br />AND STATE REGULATIONS. <br />3. THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT THE SHOP DRAWINGS (WHICH SHALL INDICATE DESIGN <br />CRITERIA USED TO ESTABLISH DESIGN DENSITIES I.E. OCCUPANCY USE, OCCUPANCY CLASSIFICATION, TYPE OF <br />COMMODITY, COMMODITY CLASSIFICATION, STORAGE CONFIGURATION, MAXIMUM AVAILABLE HEIGHT FOR STORAGE, AND <br />APPROPRIATE CODE REFERENCES), MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS AND HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS, IF REQUIRED, <br />TO THE LOCAL AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION FOR REVIEW, APPROVAL AND PERMITTING PRIOR TO INSTALLATION <br />OR MODIFICATION OF THE AUTOMATIC SPRINKLER SYSTEM. ALL DRAWINGS AND CALCULATIONS SHALL BE SIGNED AND <br />SEALED BY THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR'S REGISTERED FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER. THE ARCHITECT <br />SHALL RECEIVE TWO COPIES OF THE SHOP DRAWINGS, MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED HYDRAULIC <br />CALCULATIONS FOR THEIR RECORDS. <br />4. THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY INSTALLATIONS AND OBSTRUCTIONS OF ALL TRADES AND <br />SHALL COORDINATE ALL FIRE PROTECTION WORK WITH OTHER TRADES, NEW AND EXISTING, AND ROUTE PIPING TO <br />AVOID INTERFERENCES. <br />5. THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL FEES, PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS <br />REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE WORK DESCRIBED IN THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND SHOP DRAWINGS. <br />6. THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR, PER NFPA 13, 2002 EDITION, SHALL PERFORM ALL REQUIRED <br />ACCEPTANCE TESTS, COMPLETE THE CONTRACTOR'S MATERIAL AND TEST CERTIFICATES, AND FORWARD THE <br />CERTIFICATES TO THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION PRIOR TO ASKING FOR APPROVAL OF THE INSTALLATION. <br />7. THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR, AFTER EXAMINATION OF ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS, PLANS AND <br />SPECIFICATIONS, SHALL INCLUDE ALL COSTS NECESSARY FOR ALTERATION, MODIFICATIONS, AND/OR ADDITIONS TO <br />THE FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM NECESSARY TO MAKE THE COMPLETE AND FINISHED INSTALLA1ON IN ALL ASPECTS. IT <br />IS THE INTENT THAT ALL COSTS FOR THE WORK REQUIRED BE IN THE BID OF THIS TRADE. <br />8. ALL MATERIAL (SPRINKLER HEADS, PIPING, FITTINGS, ETC.) SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH NFPA 13, 2002 <br />EDITION, AND ALL OTHER APPLICABLE CODES. <br />9. ALL SHUTDOWNS OF THE FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM TO PERFORM THE WORK UNDER THIS CONTRACT SHALL <br />BE COORDINATED WITH THE BUILDING OWNER/ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TO MINIMIZE OR AVOID INCONVENIENCE TO <br />THE BUILDING TENANTS. <br />10. FIRE PROTECTION PIPING 2" OR SMALLER SHALL BE BLACK STEEL SCHEDULE 40 AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM <br />A120 AND ASTM A795. PIPE 2 1 /2" AND LARGER PIPE SHALL BE BLACK STEEL LIGHTWALL SCHEDULE 10 AND IN <br />ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM A135. PIPING AND FITTINGS SHALL ADHERE TO NFPA, 2002 EDITION. <br />11. THE SPRINKLER HEADS SHOWN ON THE DRAWING ARE FOR REFERENCE ONLY. MORE HEADS MAY BE NECESSARY <br />FOR THE DESIGN TO COMPLY WITH ALL CODES AND STANDARDS. <br />12. THE METHODS OF HANGING PIPE, HEADERS AND BRANCHES SHALL BE APPROVED BY NFPA 13, 2002 EDITION. ALL <br />PIPING SHALL BE FIRMLY ANCHORED AND SUPPORTED TO PREVENT SWAY AND VIBRATION THE ENTIRE LENGTH. <br />PROVIDE DETAIL AND INDICATE TYPE OF HANGER TO BE INSTALLED FOR THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM PIPING. <br />13. PROVIDE FIRE RATED SLEEVES AND UL LISTED FIRESTOPPING AT ALL PENETRATIONS OF SMOKE/FIRE WALLS, <br />CEILINGS, ROOFS, ETC. FLASH AND COUNTER FLASH ROOF PENETRATIONS. <br />14. INDICATE CENTER TO CENTER DIMENSIONS, PIPE CUT LENGTHS AND NOMINAL PIPE DIAMETERS ON ALL PIPING. <br />15. REFER TO AND COORDINATE WITH THE ARCHITECTURAL REFLECTED CEILING PLANS FOR CEILING TYPES, HEIGHTS AND <br />OTHER CEILING MOUNTED DEVICES. THE OWNER AND THE ARCHITECT RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MODIFY HEAD <br />LOCATIONS TO CREATE AN AESTHETIC DESIGN. <br />16. ROUTE ALL PIPING CONCEALED ABOVE CEILINGS, WITHIN WALLS, IN MECHANICAL ROOMS, OR IN CHASES EXCEPT AS <br />SPECIFICALLY NOTED. <br />17. COORDINATE LOCATION OF ANY NEW OR RELOCATED SIAMESE CONNECTIONS WITH ARCHITECT, SITE LAYOUT, AND FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT. PROVIDE REMOTE SIAMESE CONNECTIONS AS REQUIRED FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT ACCESS FROM DRIVE. <br />18. LOCATION OF INSPECTORS TEST STATIONS, ISOLATION VALVES AND DRAIN DOWN VALVES SHALL <br />BE COORDINATED AS TO MINIMIZE PLACEMENT OF THESE DEVICES INSIDE TENANT SPACES. PROVIDE DRAIN DOWN <br />VALVES FOR ANY AND ALL TRAPPED SECTION OF PIPING PER NFPA 13 AND 2002 EDITION. ALL DISCHARGED <br />SHALL BE ARRANGED TO MINIMIZE DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING. ALL DRAIN PIPING SHALL BE GALVANIZED. PROVIDE <br />ACCESS PANELS TO ANY VALVES ABOVE NON -ACCESSIBLE CEILING AND IN CHASES. ALL DRAIN DOWN VALVES AND <br />INSPECTOR'S TEST STATION VALVES SHALL BE CHAINED AND PADLOCKED. <br />19. ALL ISOLATION VALVES SHALL BE SUPERVISED. PROVIDE TAMPER SWITCHES ON ALL CONTROL VALVES. <br />COORDINATE WITH FIRE ALARM CONTRACTOR. <br />20. SPRINKLER HEADS MOUNTED LESS THAN 7 FEET ABOVE FINISHED FLOOR SHALL BE PROTECTED WITH A WIRE CAGE <br />TYPE GUARD. <br />21. SPRINKLER CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL AND ACTIVATE THE EN11RE SPRINKLER SYSTEM PRIOR TO THE ISSUANCE OF <br />THE CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY. <br />22. ALL FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS SHALL BE TESTED AS REQUIRED PER NFPA 13, 2002 EDITION AND LOCAL <br />AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION BEFORE ANY SYSTEMS ARE CONCEALED. <br />23. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONDUCT HYDROSTATIC TESTS IN COMPLIANCE WITH NFPA 13, 2002 EDITION (TWO HOUR AT <br />200 PSI OR 100 PSI OVER NORMAL SYSTEM PRESSURE MINIMUM). PIPING SUBJECT TO FREEZING DURING TEST <br />PERIOD SHALL BE TESTED WITH COMPRESSED AIR. <br />24. CERTIFICATES OF APPROVAL OF INSTALLATION SHALL BE OBTAINED FROM THE AUTHORITY HAVING JURISDICTION AND <br />FORWARDED TO THE OWNER. <br />26. THE FINAL INSPECTION AND APPROVAL OF THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM SHALL BE BY THE LOCAL FIRE MARSHALL. <br />27. AFTER TESTS ARE CONDUCTED AND ANY REPAIRS COMPLETED, COMPLETELY FLUSH THE PIPING SYSTEMS WITH <br />WATER UNTIL DISCHARGE SHOWS NO DISCOLORATION. <br />28. ONLY NEW SPRINKLERS SHALL BE EMPLOYED IN THE INSTALLATION OF SPRINKLER SYSTEMS. AT <br />LEAST TWELVE SPARE SPRINKLER HEADS OF EACH TYPE, TEMPERATURE RATING, AND ORIFICE <br />SIZE USED IN THE SYSTEMS SHALL BE KEPT IN THE PREMISES. REPLACEMENT SPRINKLERS <br />SHALL HAVE THE SAME OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS AS THE SPRINKLER HEADS BEING <br />REPLACED. <br />29. ANY PORTION OF THE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS WHICH IS SUBJECT TO FREEZING SHALL BE <br />PROTECTED AGAINST THIS EXPOSURE. <br />30. ALARMS SHALL BE OF SUFFICIENT INTENSITY TO BE CLEARLY AUDIBLE IN OVER BACKGROUND <br />NOISE LEVELS WITH ALL INTERVENING DOORS CLOSED. <br />31• FIRE STOP ALL PENETRATIONS OF SMOKE/FIRE WALLS. FIRE STOPPING SHALL BE OF U.L. <br />LISTED ASSEMBLY. <br />FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE CHAPTER <br />61G15-32 NOTES <br />61G15-32.003 - COMMON REQUIREMENTS TO ALL FIRE PROTEC11ON ENGINEERING DOCUMENTS <br />(1) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR'S SCOPE OF WORK SHALL INCLUDE THE PREPARATION AND DESIGN OF <br />THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM LAYOUT DOCUMENTS AND ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS, SYSTEMS, MATERIALS, <br />ASSEMBLIES, EQUIPMENT AND SUPPORT SYSTEMS REQUIRED. SEE GENERAL NOTES AND NOTE (4) BELOW. <br />(2) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM AND COMPONENTS SHALL BE TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 13, 2002 EDITION. <br />(3) SEE 61 G15-32.004 (2c) BELOW. <br />(4) THE FIRE WITH NFPAPROTECTION 1133, 2002EDITIONMDESIGN LAYOUT DOCUMENTS PREPARED DESIGNED ACCORDANCE 2004/2006 FLORIDA FIREPREVENTION CODE, 2004/2006 FLORIDA BUILDING CODE <br />CHAPTER NINE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS AND ALL OTHER APPLICABLE CITY, COUNTY AND STATE REGULATIONS. <br />(5) PROVIDE PIPING SUPPORT FROM STRUCTURAL AS REQUIRED PER NFPA 13 STANDARDS. <br />(6) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR WILL PREPARE THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM LAYOUT DOCUMENTS AND <br />THEREFORE BECOME THE FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER OF RECORD. <br />(7) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THESE REQUIREMENTS. <br />(8) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR WILL PREPARE THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM LAYOUT DOCUMENTS AND <br />THEREFORE BECOME THE FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER OF RECORD AND WILL ASSIST THE AUTHORITY HAVING <br />JURISDICTION. <br />61 G15-32.004 - DESIGN OF WATER BASED FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS <br />(1) THE SYSTEM IS AN AUTOMATIC WET SPRINKLER SYSTEM - THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR <br />SHALL VERIFY THESE REQUIREMENTS. <br />(2a) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE POINT OF SERVICE. <br />(2b) SEE 61G15-32.003 (4) ABOVE. <br />(2c) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM IN THIS PROJECT SHALL COVER THESE OCCUPANCIES: <br />ALL KITCHEN SPACES, EMPLOYEE SERVICE SPACES, STORAGE <br />ROOMS, MECHANICAL ROOMS AND ELECTRICAL ROOMS SHALL BE CLASSIFIED AS ORDINARY <br />HAZARD GROUP I. ALL OTHER AREAS SHALL BE CLASSIFIED AS LIGHT HAZARD. <br />(2d) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR'S SYSTEM LAYOUT DOCUMENTS SHALL INDICATE THE SYSTEM TYPE, <br />DENSITIES, DEVICE TEMPERATURE RATING AND SPACING FOR EACH SEPARATE HAZARD OCCUPANCY. HYDRAULIC <br />CALCULATIONS SHALL BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA 13 , 2002 EDITION, AS REQUIRED. <br />(2e) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE WATER SUPPLY DATA. <br />(2f) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL FLOW TEST AND PRESSURE DATA. <br />(2g) THE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY VALUING AND ALARM REQUIREMENTS. <br />(2h) THE LOCAL UTILITY PURVEYOR AND FIRE MARSHALL CONTINUOUSLY MONITOR THE WATER SUPPLY FOR CONTAMINANTS <br />WHICH MAY CAUSE MICROBIAL INDUCED CORROSION.
