All work shall be in strict accordance with National Electrical Code all applicable local ordinances <br />and in cooperation with the utility companies. <br />2. Coordinate all work with all trades. <br />3. Provide and install ground fault circuit-interupters (gfi) as indicated on plans. <br />4. Mount all outlets and receptacles plumb and flush with walls. <br />5. Unless otherwise indicated, install switches & receptacles at the following heights above finish <br />floor: <br />Switches 42" <br />Outlets 14" <br />Telephones 14" <br />CAN 14" <br />6. Install electrical cable, wire and connectors as Indicated in accordance with the manufacturer's <br />written instruction, the applicable requirements of nec and the national electrical contractors <br />association "standard of installation' and in accordance with recognized industry practices to ensure <br />that production serve the intended functions. <br />7. All wire shall be std. #10 and #12 and shall be romex or nm cable Type "B" or approved equal. <br />8. Coordinate electrical requirements for A/C with A/C contractor. <br />9. All receptacles in sleeping rooms shall be on a A.F.C.I. protected circuit. <br />10. Receptacles will be "Tamper Resistant" per Section 406.11 of the National Electrical Code 2008. <br />11. Arc -Fault Circuit Interrupters will be installed per Section 210.12 of the National Electrical Code <br />2008. <br />SECTION R314 SMOKE ALARMS <br />R314.1 Smoke detection and notification. All smoke alarms shall be listed and labeled in <br />accordance with UL 217 and installed In accordance with the provisions of this code and the <br />household fire warning equipment provisions of NFPA 72. <br />R314.2 Smoke detection systems. Household fire alarm systems installed In accordance with NFPA <br />72 that include smoke alarms, or a combination of smoke detector and audible notification device <br />installed as required by this section for smoke alarms, shall be permitted. The household fire alarm <br />system shall provide the same level of smoke detection and alarm as required by this section for <br />smoke alarms. Where a household fire warning system is installed using a combination of smoke <br />detector and audible notification device(s), it shall become a permanent fixture of the occupancy <br />and owned by the homeowner. The system shall be monitored by an approved supervising station <br />and be maintained in accordance with NFPA 72. <br />Exception: Where smoke alarms are provided meeting the requirements of Section R314.4. <br />R314.3 Location. Smoke alarms shall be installed in the following locations: <br />1. In each sleeping room. <br />2. Outside each separate sleeping area in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms. <br />3. On each additional story of the dwelling, including basements and habitable attics but not <br />Including crawl spaces and uninhabitable attics. In dwellings or dwelling units with split levels and <br />without an intervening door between the adjacent levels, a smoke alarm installed on the upper level <br />shall suffice for the adjacent lower level provided that the lower level is less than one full story below <br />the upper level. <br />SECTION R315 CARBON MO!NOX[DE ALARMS <br />R315.1 Carbon monoxide protection. Every separate building or an addition to an existing building <br />for which a permit for new construction is issued and having a fossil -fuel -burning heater or <br />appliance, a fireplace, an attached garage, or other feature, fixture, or element that emits carbon <br />monoxide as byproduct of combustion shall have an operational carbon monoxide alarm installed <br />within 10 feet (3048 mm) of each room used for sleeping purposes. <br />Exception: This section shall not apply to existing buildings that are undergoing alterations or repair <br />unless the alteration is an addition as defined in Section R315.1.3. <br />R315.1.1 Carbon monoxide alarm. The requirements of Section R315.1 shall be satisfied by <br />providing for one of the following alarm installations: <br />(1) A hard -wired carbon monoxide alarm. <br />(2) A battery -powered carbon monoxide alarm. <br />(3) A hard -wired combination carbon monoxide and smoke alarm. <br />(4) A battery -powered combination carbon monox- ide and smoke alarm. <br />R315.1.2 Combination alarms.
