<br />SPECIAL INSPECTIONS
<br />1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EMPLOY THE SERVIC
<br />, ES OF AN INDEPENDENT
<br />TESTING LABORATORY, OR LABORATORIESAS APPROVED BY ARCHITECT,
<br />TO PERFORM TESTS AND MAKE INSPECTIONS AS SPECIFIED HEREIN.
<br />SERVICES TO BE PERFORMED AS DESCRIBED BELOW SHALL INCLUDE THE
<br />FOLLOWING:
<br />a) SOIL TESTING,
<br />b) CONCRETE,
<br />c) MASONRY.
<br />2. TESTING LABORATORY SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CONDUCTING AND
<br />INTERPRETING AGREED -UPON TESTS, STATING IN EACH REPORT WHETHER
<br />OR NOT THE TEST SPECIMENS CONFORM TO ALL REQUIREMENTS OF THE
<br />CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, AND SPECIFICALLY NOTING ANY DEVIATIONS
<br />THEREFROM.
<br />3. TESTING LAB SHALL SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:,
<br />a) INSPECTION REPORTS, COPIES TO OWNERARCHITECT, CONTRACTOR.
<br />b) TEST REPORTS, COPIES TO OWNER, ARCHITECT, CONTRACTOR, AND
<br />COPY OR COPIES TO THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT.
<br />c) A FINAL REPORT OF INSPECTIONS DOCUMENTING COMPLETION OF ALL
<br />REQUIRED INSPECTIONS, AND CORRECTION OF ANY DISCREPANCIES
<br />NOTED IN THE INSPECTIONS SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE OWNER,
<br />CONTRACTOR, ARCHITECT & THE BUILDING DEPT.
<br />4. OWNER, ARCHITECT, AND APPROVED TESTING LABORATORY AND THEIR
<br />REPRESENTATIVES SHALL AT ALL TIMES HAVE ACCESS TO THE WORK TO
<br />MAKE INSPECTIONS AND TESTS. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE PROPER
<br />FACILITIES FOR SUCH ACCESS, INSPECTION AND TESTS.
<br />5. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY OWNERIARCHITECTITESTING LABORATORY IN
<br />SUFFICIENT TIME BEFORE PERFORMANCE OF WORK TO PERMIT PROPER
<br />CONDUCT OF INSPECTIONS AND TESTS.
<br />6. REPRESENTATIVES OF TESTING LABORATORIES SHALL INSPECT THE
<br />MANUFACTURE, ASSEMBLY AND/OR PLACEMENT OF MATERIALS AS
<br />REQUIRED AND SHALL REPORT THEIR FINDINGS AS OUTLINED ABOVE.
<br />7. WORK SHALL BE CHECKED AS IT PROGRESSES, BUT FAILURE TO DETECT
<br />ANY DEFECTIVE WORK OR MATERIALS SHALL IN NO WAY PREVENT LATER
<br />REJECTION WHEN SUCH DEFECT IS DISCOVERED, NOR SHALL IT OBLIGATE
<br />THE OWNER FOR FINAL ACCEPTANCE.
<br />8. SOIL TESTING:
<br />THE INSPECTOR SHALL DETERMINE THAT THE IN -PLACE DRY DENSITY OF
<br />ANY COMPACTED FILL IS NOT LESS THAN 95% OF THE MAXIMUM DRY
<br />DENSITY AT OPTIMUM MOISTURE CONTENT DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE
<br />WITH ASTM D 1557.
<br />TO BE PERFORMED PERIODICALLY DURING LISTED TASK:
<br />a) VERIFY MATERIALS BELOW SHALLOW FOUN
<br />TY.
<br />DATIONS ARE ADEQUATE TO
<br />ACHIEVE THE DESIGN BEARING CAPACI
<br />b) VERIFY EXCAVATIONS ARE EXTENDED TO PROPER DEPTH AND HAVE
<br />REACHED PROPER MATERIAL.
<br />c) PERFORM CLASSIFICATION AND TESTING OF COMPACTED FILL
<br />MATERIALS.
<br />d) PRIOR TO PLACEMENT OF COMPACTED FILL, OBSERVE SUBGRADE AND
<br />VERIFY THAT THE SITE HAS BEEN PREPARED PROPERLY.

<br />a) VERIFY USE OF PROPER MATERIALS, DENSITIES AND LIFT THICKNESSES

<br />E) SAMPLING FRESH CONCRETE AND PERFORMING SLUMP, AIR CONTENT AND

<br />10. TESTING OF MASONRY CONSTRUCTION:
<br />THE INSPECTOR SHALL VERIFY COMPLIANCE WITH REQUIRED INSPECTION
<br />PROVISIONS OF THE CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS AND THE APPROVED
<br />SUBMITTALS SHALL BE VERIFIED. INSPECTIONS SHALL BE PERFORMED IN
<br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARDS REFERENCED IN THE IBC
<br />DESCRIPTIONS OF EACH.
<br />THE INSPECTOR SHALL VERIFY THE FM AND F'AAC PRIOR TO
<br />CONSTRUCTION.
<br />THE INSPECTOR SHALL CONTINUOUSLY VERIFY THE SLUMP FLOW AND VSI
<br />DELIVERED TO THE SITE FOR SELF -CONSOLIDATING GROUT.
<br />AS MASONRY CONSTRUCTION BEGINS, THE INSPECTOR SHALL
